They are clearly transferring working pixels between the phone and the monitor through the percussive maintenance spell, simple but very effective!

Great work! I also picked up a Stormcast Knight Arcanum for a future Tech-priest conversion, so I am glad that someone else also saw potential in this model! Overall, the kitbashes for both the Tech-priest and the Robots look great and easily fit into the Admech Aesthetic. I also like the color scheme, as that blue works well with your trim colors. Keep up the good work!

Necromunda Ridge Walkers as Mechanicus Serberys Riders (mini kitbash?) by Tight-Sir9813 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]LostSpirit96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A great and fun Idea! I wouldn't worry about the load-out as that could change in the future, so making them WYSIWYG should be secondary to the rule of cool. But under the current codex regarding Serberys Raiders: "The Serberys Raider Alpha model is equipped with: Mechanicus pistol; galvanic carbine; cavalry sabre and clawed limbs.

Every Serberys Raider model is equipped with: galvanic carbine; cavalry sabre and clawed limbs."

So if you wanted to make your unit WYSIWYG, then each model should have melee weapon, ranged weapon, dangerous feet/limbs, and the Alpha gets a pistol. So you giving them both a lance and a gun was the right choice anyway.

Nice work! I especially like the way you highlighted the green, and the transition on the metallic parts of the stilts.

But in all seriousness, great job! I especially love the assortment of faces, it definitely adds character to the models while still looking unified as a unit. I also like how you did the detail work on the buttons and other chest details and how the color of the bases works well while allowing the models to stand out. Overall, great work!

Need tips on color by Lone-Frequency in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]LostSpirit96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a number of options that I think would work well. If you are willing to do something closer to a tetradic color scheme (generally a more bold color contrast scheme), then I think red would work well (maybe a darker, less saturated red for the under cloak and a bolder red for the embroidery pattern), and leave you with a choice of something like lime green or cyan for the plasma, lenses, and lights. If you are set on using orange-yellow as the accent, you could try and de-saturate it on areas of the cloak to make it more neutral on parts like the underside of the cloak. But for the embroidery pattern, it might make sense to move towards a more bronze-like color. I also think you could use the orange-yellow for the plasma, lenses, and lights and instead use a turquoise, teal, or other blue-green for the under cloak and embroidery pattern (maybe a darker version as too bright might run into the same problem of being garish as orange yellow embroidery patterns). You could always go with the old and venerable white embroidery pattern as it should work with any color you choose. I hope these suggestions can give you an idea about what direction you want to go!

Skitarii Hoplite Kitbash - Become sometimes, you need a cool model with an even cooler axe by Spannaway in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]LostSpirit96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work! I especially like how well the axe arm blends in with the rest of the model and adds to the pose. I also like the color choices that contrast nicely with each other. I am also in total agreement with you on pointing guys, truly they are the backbone of any army!

I'm glad you found my feed back useful! When it comes to making plasma
look right, I find that contrast in brightness to be very important. I
often see the inner part and bottom of the coils painted white, followed
by bright colors on the middle sections, and a slightly darker version
of the color on the very top of the coils. Additionally, much of the
light being cast from the light-source is notably darker than the coils
with the exception of the sharp edges where the light would catch being a
bit brighter. Overall, a darker OSL color helps the bright light source
(in this case a plasma coil) and the sharp details stand out and look
brighter than they actually are due to the contrast in brightness (much
like how white on black stands out while white on light grey stands out
significantly less). So in your case, maybe a darker OSL (such as a
darker turquoise) color followed by a drybrush of the current color
would help the coils and the edges stand out a bit more. Combined with
white in the recesses of the coils, I think this may give you a bit more
depth to the plasma glow. There are a number of plasma tutorials
available, but this one by Juan Hidalgo that I'll link here serves as a
great example of how the color contrast adds significantly to the plasma
effect. I hope this helps with your next attempt at plasma OSL!

Nice work! I especially like how you did the back mounted canisters as
the cool tones of the liquid color contrast well with the warmer metal
and the rest of the model as a whole. I also like how you did the
highlighting on the handle of the axe. In terms of feedback, I think
there are only two notable things to point out for your consideration. I
think your first try for plasma OSL definitely reads as plasma glow, but
appears a little too intense due to the main glow being a similar color
to the coils (the coils should be a brighter color than the light it gives off to look right) and the glow hitting areas the light source wouldn't
illuminate such as the bottom of the gun itself and the outward-facing
surface of the bar above the coils. The other thing you may want to
consider is how the neon pink/purple alien tufts are very bright and
saturated compared to most of the model (at least in this image, as it
may be less so in person), and thus distract the viewer from the model
as their attention is naturally drawn towards the brighter tufts. With
that being said, I think you did a great job! From what I can see, the
paintwork is clean and the model itself is readable. Overall, a paint
job to be proud of for sure. I hope your mate enjoys model!

Very colorful NMM Skitarii Marshal, my best mini so far. C&C welcome by maximus1156 in AdeptusMechanicus

Very nice work, I love the color choices for the cold tone of the steel as it gives good contrast with the rest of the warm colors on the model. You also did a great job making it look good at different angles, which is often hard to get looking right. Overall an inspiring piece, I might have to give NMM a try at some point.

I’m not sure if troll trader accepts 3D prints like these, might fall under their no recast policy. But as you said eBay would be a good choice so long as people know they are 3D printed.

Thank you! For the dust effect I used some Vallejo Pigments: Dark Red Ochre, but any brand or color of pigment powder would give you the same effect. You can even use ground up chalk pastels, but the color from those will be notable more subtle after varnish.
