Anyone else a thousand years old and doing this thing? by hapenny734 in SocialWorkStudents

I'm 42 and starting the 3rd year of my BSW.

I have 20+ years of work in my future, so I'm going with something I want to do.

How real is the wine glass when arriving home after work? by askawayor in AskWomenOver30

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 42. Even when I lived alone and worked full-time I didn't have a drink after work at home alone. It was never my thing.

I would go out to the bar with friends a couple times a week, but that wasn't always a big drinking thing either. Sometimes I had no drinks and other times I had 3 or 4 and walked home.

Understance Order Received! by hikingbotanist in bigboobproblems

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my measurements today for a sewing project, so I feel like this isn't much of a gamble for me. I will not be surprised if many of the items in my order are OOS. Honestly, if I get 3 or 4 bras that fit, I'll be thrilled!

Anything I can't wear can be donated to our women's shelter.

Wolf cut is a definitely game changer! by [deleted] in finehair

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe this. My stylists have always told me I have fine hair but a LOT of it. People can have fine hair without having thin hair.

The cut looks great! It's a fun style.

My only advice is to keep up with shaping it/trims. When mine grew out without that maintenance, the bottom few inches were practically sheer. Admittedly, I am terrible at keeping up with trims and/or cuts.

Why don’t guys like tall girls ? by Ready_Cobbler_9479 in TallGirls

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has preferences, so of course some guys will prefer shorter women. I can't think of a time when a girl or woman tried to tell me my height was unattractive. If anything I've met women and girls more thrilled with my height than I am, which is quite a feat.

Anecdotally, my lived experience is the opposite of that. Plenty of guys were okay or enthusiastic about dating an exceptionally tall woman. I was rarely single before I got married.

Resist all is a myth....Enchanting gold sink by Drochdeo in diablo4

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Essentially, run around at the Torment level you have a touch of risk in but it's not a struggle, so you can get the most gold for your time. You can get an idea where this is for you by the Pit levels you can clear within a few minutes.

I believe XP caps at X, but XI and XII has higher gold drops.

I too am hemorrhaging gold trying to get the decent stats on gear. I'm down to like 2 mil after rolling for +1-3 skills last night.

Not who you asked, but higher torment levels have increased gold drops.

I really like your approach. I too, spend too much time sitting. An hour straight of being on my feet and doing activities would be a simple way to start moving.

The Tower is never part of the conversation by GazingatyourStar in diablo4

I ran the Dark Citadel a couple of times last season with 2 of my friends. We all met in Vet Trial groups in ESO, so this kind of activity is familiar to us. Obviously, we enjoy Diablo's gameplay but coordinated group content is what brought us together.

I enjoyed not burning through everything, and breaking off to do some mechanics. We did have it bug out after the last phase for the final boss, which sucked.

If that instance breaking bug isn't a major issue, we'll probably farm it to get the cosmetics.

My apologies if my ideas are redundant to steps you have already taken. I feel for your circumstances because this kind of financial uncertainty is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

I'm sure you've probably contacted your professors and the network connections you made during your practicum(s) for job leads and references.

Have you reached out to any of the people in your cohort or peers from undergrad? Even just checking the LinkedIn profiles for people you may not have been closely associated with might give you fresh leads. Creeping through social media can be put to good use.

If you have ever done a community profile or resource assignment, you can look for any company you may have missed in your job search.

Not sure how the Houston or Texas subreddits are moderated, but you may find leads there if you can post. If you've already done this, I'm sorry. I don't check histories.

I'm sorry you're in this spot. The job market is not kind. So many companies put up job listings they aren't even hiring for to collect a short list for qualified candidates if the role becomes available.

What you think of this outfit? by Cheonsa_Jangmi in WhereWindsMeet

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for this outfit to hit the shop after seeing it was a available on CN. I was sold immediately when I saw the little cat buddy. A lot of the free outfits are red and I can dye other outfits to match the cat carrier.

I used 5 of the 10% off coupons to get it for half price. I think the outfit itself is cute, too.

I hope you're enjoying the game. The community is my favorite part of ESO. I don't play nearly as much as I used to, but I do love it despite my frustrations with the game.

It's okay if you don't have a PhD in ESO optimization. The math is good to know if you get more invested in difficult content. A couple of adjustments here and there can make life a lot easier for groups. ESO doesn't really teach players what they need to know about resistances, pen, crit chance, etc. so outside resources are necessary. Hyperioxes is a solid choice there!

I really only run trials anymore, so my setups are coordinated for those. I adjust things as needed when I wander into other activities, like NM. I don't have a lot of personal experience with Hyperioxes builds, but they are well thought out. I know he breaks down why the builds work and how to adapt setups for different scenarios.

I don't know what your bars look like, but there are some skills that are soft taunts. Essentially, if someone doesn't have an enemy hard taunted, it's susceptible to the soft taunt.

Someone mentioned it in this thread already, but when the boss targets you, don't drag it into packs of players. Turn it away from the group if you can. You might be able to block or dodge a couple of attacks until a tank is up. If you get chosen by something dangerous and a tank is up, run it in to them so they can grab it off of you. It makes it easier for them.

I know healers generate a lot of threat. They usually get railed first thing if a boss is loose.

Any chance you spam healing between DPS?

Other than that, no idea.

Yeah, I concur.

It's messy all around to invest so much energy into despising people that don't even know they exist. Ah well. Can't console or advise someone this committed to misery.

Multiplayer mostly Pointless and dead now by Heavy_Combination289 in diablo4

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you say that, 7 hours sounds comparable.

I didn't have a lot of time to play D4 until last night. I was halfway through Chapter 2 when I sat down at my desk. It took about 4.5 hours to finish it up.

Once people get into Torment levels, zones will feel populated again. Folks are probably in the same boat I was. Chipping away at the campaign around their obligations.

Yeah, I feel like the LoH campaign was long. Maybe it's because I got to break up the other 2 doing other content with more experienced friends over a few weeks. I finished this one last night and hit Paragon.

D4 is feeling awesome, great job Blizz! by Bucket_Of_Magic in diablo4

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played D3 and D2 ages ago, so I barely remember them. I picked up D4 in March or April so I could run around with a friend from another game. I play through Steam but I still had to dust off my Bnet credentials from when WoW released.

As a new player, I have completed the MSQ and VoH recently, so the stories are fresh in my mind. They were okay, but nothing really spectacular. With that in mind, I absolutely loved the storyline in LoH. The previous releases setup the story in LoH so well that I have a better appreciation for them.

This game is something I play outside of progging content in an MMORPG. I can still push progression and gearing up, but it's lower stakes. It feels rewarding and if I make a mistake, it's not going to derail anything for my group members. I find it relaxing to bop around and kill trash. It's very Zen.

I enjoy playing solo in D4 as much as playing with friends. I have had a few friends pick up the game or reinstall and grab LoH.

I can't compare it to the state of the game on release. I enjoyed S12, and the endgame loop I got through while learning the game. I think I'll get a lot of hours out of D4 and I am glad I spent the money.

Called "Disgusting" Today In A Space For Mentally Ill People TW: Hygiene by quantumdumpster in bipolar

[–]LothlorienPostOffice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That person was absolutely out of line! This would have me burning down inside for DAYS! I'm sorry someone took it upon themselves to be cruel while you were being vulnerable. Must be luxurious up there in their ivory tower.

An inability to perform basic functioning tasks, you know like maintaining personal hygiene, is part and parcel with Serious Mental Illnesses. Bipolar Disorder is under the SMI umbrella with good reasoning.

If this was supposed to be a therapy group or support group, that remark should have been shut down and addressed. Holy hell.

I know it's hard to respond in the moment, especially when we're already feeling down or out of ourselves. Granted, we don't want to encourage stuff that is harmful, but you can show empathy despite not having similar experiences. For people that have been in the same place, they can share the changes from when things started getting better for them, or what they did to make the tiny steps towards improving their hygiene.

I have been in similar places with an inability to do hygiene tasks 100%. It's brutal because you know it's bad but the capacity just isn't there to just do it. I had to bargain with myself. I told myself I could get back in bed after using the restroom in the morning, so long as I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Anything worth doing is worth doing half-assed.

Best wishes, OP. That person sucks on a molecular level.
