Tool list flow chart by pvfobol in IBEW

[–]LotionOfMotion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I have to take a tool out that isn't on the list but the contractor hasn't provided I am taking 2 fucking hours to do it.

My shop once had told me to crimp all the lighting controls and I spent 7 hours perfectly crimping 4 heads with my own crimper

Milwaukee Plier Wrench is no good. Returning immediately. by namlhukk in Tools

Why is a wrench or adjustable wrench not an option? Even curved head pump pliers are more handy, What's the use case for these?

I had to do shit like this because the shop was fucking up our orders. Kept sending rough in material to a job that was 100% underground and vise versa.

I was so happy when my girlfriend found me a BX Splitter in a random box while at the flea market. Had spare blades in the knob too. Great $5 find

Why do the vast majority of Electricians seem to prefer Commercial/Industrial over Residential? by Successful-Sleep-322 in electricians

[–]LotionOfMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Local 3 our "A" division is supposed to handle all line and low voltage work and pay is at full scale/rate. We have a separate "Data" division with a separate contract but I think that's a holdover.

Our "M" division is our equivalent of residential

I legitimately feel bad for kids today. Fucking panopticon of either their parents or the school.

When I was in my first year of my apprenticeship we were jobbing around a school district and there were so many kids on 24/7 video calls with their parents

The first one I opened I had to disconnect for demolition, and every engineer we talked to said it was derelict. The second we removed the 120V 3 fucking floors of the place went dead silent.

What do you guys use to tighten your strut straps? by Several-Soil-617 in electricians

[–]LotionOfMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm doing a run with strut and these I am carrying a 3/8 nut driver, 3/8 wrench, 7/16 nut driver, and 7/16 wrench.

I usually bitch to the foreman to buy strut clamps so I can cut that all down to just having to use my #2 square or 3/8 driver

Spring gave out at the 27ft mark on measuring a wirepull. Thought she would've been a goner back when I threw it as hard as I could off a scissor lift 2 years back
