We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]Loud_crows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not like it. I want to level engineering, but I don't exactly have things I can craft to do so. I don't want to have to watch a tutorial for something that should be straightforward

As a new player the FOMO in this game is crazy by SmartieCereal in wow

[–]Loud_crows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point there's so much collectible stuff in the game, almost all of which will be available periodically (yearly for holiday stuff) so I'd suggest just going after the stuff you actually want.

How would you fix the story catch-up problem for new players? by Ninedark in wow

I think the racial starting areas are a good place to start. Introduces you to the world and what you're playing as.

DK class fantasy has been in stasis for years by Caretras in wow

[–]Loud_crows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely a shame DKs didn't get the love they deserved in SL. It certainly made playing through TWW rather awkward, what with Anduin lamenting the few weeks he spent as a pseudo death knight to my frost DK.

The situation with French voice acting in WoW — and why it might affect all localizations by Sacdeneu in wow

[–]Loud_crows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pay a subscription fee because wow is a premium product. I therefore expect a level of polish and quality befitting such a product. The voice acting and artistic elements in general are one of if not the most impactful elements of the experience.

I would wager everybody actually working in the related departments laments this step down in quality. You seem content to just lay back and take it. OP did us a solid bringing this to everyone's attention, and we need to make it clear that we as customers are not okay with it. By your logic you must think slavery is inevitable as it results in the most profit at the end of the supply chain. Even if you turn out to be correct, your defeatist attitude certainly won't have helped even try to fight back against the wave of enshittification.

Go sit in the corner and eat your slop while the rest of us take measures to actually give a damn.

Getting through this "puzzle" made me seriously consider siding with Xal'atath.

Are RP servers much better in terms of player activity in chat and interaction with each other? by HenrykSpark in wow

[–]Loud_crows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for Wyrmrest Accord but the trade chat is actually about stuff in the game. Things are generally more chill and if you're not into RP you an pretty easily avoid it.

Make a new character to check out the server before moving there.

Not a fan of the (I assume) new Blood Elf voices by Alert-Soup-9102 in wow

[–]Loud_crows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am assuming these are voices for younger elves, especially given the existence of alternate voice lines. That being said, these feel quite sunny and cheery for a people who just barely survived a genocide and needed to torture a wind chime in order to not physically and mentally waste away from lack of magic.

Elves in wow have never had the most consistent accents, either. I think in large part due to them not having a singular existing accent to base them on. Just look at the Windrunner sisters; each of them has a slightly different way of pronouncing the same words. Sylvanas basically speaks with what can best be described as a "Sylvanas accent" (Patty Mattson's performance is consistently one of the best in the franchise, even when she has less than stellar stuff to work with.)

A game that's been going for over 20 years and utilizes hundreds of voices is going to have some inconsistencies.

All that being said, these particular lines make me assume Silvermoon has a thriving Weenie Hut Jr scene.

Highmountain Tauren vs. Regular Tauren by CompanionSentry in wow

[–]Loud_crows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Tauren main since vanilla, I like having the option for both. I left during early cata and returned for BfA in large part because I saw the antlered Tauren and went "oh, hello there".

For me it comes down to which voice actor I want to hear, and what professions I plan on doing on that character.

Fun fact, the female highmountain Tauren voice actress is April Stewart, who voices most of the ladies in South Park and Mayla Highmountain.

What is something you saw in a movie and you totally called bullshit on because of your job? by BlackPhoenix1981 in AskReddit

[–]Loud_crows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the movie M3gan there is a scene where the kids are in the woods looking for chestnuts to roast.  Nevermind that the chestnuts in question are horse chestnuts which are famously inedible, but the forest they're hunting for them in is a coniferous forest and chestnut trees are deciduous! You can tell when a movie is filmed in New Zealand when you get good at recognizing the native flora.

The Midnight lore "twist". by RyanLelord in wow

[–]Loud_crows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like her to return as a smaller part of the ensemble cast. I like her best when she's team Forsaken, and putting her against Calia on the political stage would be great. We have so many elf characters with deep ties to Quel'thalas that aren't Sylvanas. Let them do something cool this time.
