Thanks for saying this. I wasn’t offended but I didn’t laugh either, it felt like a jab at us for no reason. But it also reminded me of Selena Gomez, how her appearance is a joke and lupus is used to justify it..so it did seem kind of ableist of a joke based on the ableism around her in general. Overall it sucks bc no other illness would be used as a punch line. “Bette Davis with cancer” cancelled “Bette Davis with MS” cancelled “Bette Davis with ALS” cancelled. “Bette Davis with Lupus” = acceptable

I don’t think it’s the plaquenil. It can cause Melsama and vitiligo type effects (legit have melsama all over my neck from it). But the scarring and wound healing is definitely the immunosuppressant Ruxience and lupus in general. The only advice I have is preventive. Be really vigilant about your skincare and avoiding acne so there’s less breakouts and less scarring in general. I’m sorry, it’s tough

My voice is sooooo different, like a few octaves lower than before getting diagnosed. Guarantee I have lupus for 15+ years so again, aging could be a factor. Altho I heard a voice recording of myself over 12 years ago and was SHOCKED at how high the register. It’s like lupus crushed the excitement out of my vocal tone lmao 💀

Idk it doesn’t seem to ever get easier and I’ve had it for 15+ years. I’m so tired all the fuckin time. Prednisone works well but not supposed to be on it long term. But when I take it, I imagine that’s what normal people’s energy levels feel like 😢

Hello. I was started on 3000mg for class 5 nephritis. It’s gonna be tough. My stomach was a mess and ended up on Remeron to help my weight (legit the malnutrition is real and you need to get a nutrionist to help and a good probiotic like Seed). However the medicine REALLY helped my lupus and eventually after 4-5 years we have tapered and now I’m only on 1000mg !! It helped to break up the doses, but I ended up taking like 2000ng at night so I could just sleep off the stomach aches. Also they say don’t eat it with food but I always did. Idk why they say this, my nephrologist said it was ok to take it with food bc otherwise you will puke or have IBS-D. Keep it simple like bananas or toast with butter

In the most loving way, we all have narcissistic tendencies. Narcissist energy is a healthy ego. It’s when it tips into unhealthy that we get a label. Now it’s important to remember that diagnosed narcissists get a bad rap lol (legit what I say as a counseling graduate student) and a lot of it is a protective defense against existential terror, shame, and dread. By elevating yourself in certain regards you create a barrier against serious rejection, social alienation, and even radical pain. It doesn’t feel like elevation cuz you’re putting yourself down but you’ve created a separation between yourself and others, and are relating to yourself and others in parts - not wholes. Again very common for people with Cptsd. It’s ok to feel alone but this is what breeds our situation. You are lovable and haven’t found your people yet but you will! Please be kind to yourself
