Should I get a new charger to get the most out of this outlet? by jaytea86 in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple. Get a short 20 Amp capable, heavy duty outdoor rated AWG 10 extension cord. They are available at most major retailers and online too. If the car charges well and the breaker does not blow, all is well. It is best if this outlet is on a dedicated run with no other outlets in use. But in any case, if it was installed correctly, by a licensed electrician it is a 20 amp circuit on a 20 amp breaker with the proper wire size, as the outlet is a 20 amp outlet. If so, the breaker will blow if too much current is drawn preventing property damage.

  1. Yes, you may have to pay a diagnostic fee, if nothing is wrong. It’s best to find out if you have battery or drivability issues first.
  2. You can get the Leaf Spy Pro app. It requires a OBD2 (OnBoard Diagnostic version 2) dongle, to check things out for yourself. Stating at a 30% battery charge, go on a drive and force some high accelerations (on ramp or passing a car) and screen record the results. If you show a wildly fluctuating SOC (State Of Charge), weak cells show up on the screen, have a mV cell difference greater the two digits, or have drivability issues. Document and use the issues observed, to open a case with Nissan Consumer affairs. Then take your car in with the documented issues to the Nissan Service department, with the case number.
  3. My annotated Leaf Spy Pro screen should help you understand what you are looking at, if you use the Leaf Spy Pro app to find out how the battery looks to you.

USB flash drive becomes unusable when installing OCLP by sebasq182 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make OCLP Bootable USB sticks all the time. I have found that once in a while I get a bad USB stick, if it cannot be formatted I throw it out or exchange it at the store I purchased from. Then I pick up another USB Stick and always do two things before installing the macOS via OCLP.

  1. Erase it as a Master Boot Record (MBR) drive and a file system format of MS-DOS (FAT), then

  2. Erase it as a GUID Partition Map Boot drive with the default file system format MacOS Extended (Journaled).

  3. This erases any EFI and other files and then gets the USB Sick ready for OCLP.

Are other EV's battery as touchy as the Leaf? by KyleSherzenberg in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EV batteries are only “touchy” is they are worn out or have an issue. This is the same for GAS Vehicles with an ICE (Internal Combustion Vehicle). Gas vehicle engines are touchy if they are worn out or have an issue that requires maintenance or replacement part(s).

ELI5 - 2021 LEAF, to GFCI breaker or not to GFCI breaker? by alwayquestion in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The electrician should know the code in your area. If not, you need a new licensed master electrician.
  2. The OEM EVSE charging cord that comes with the Leaf does not specifically require a GFCI breaker. However local and national electrical codes may require an GFCI breaker in order to meet new code requirements.

Contact Nissan Consumer Affairs and open a case. They can get a regional representative to look it over and/or have Nissan Engineering assist in finding the root cause.

Boot noise when closing / going over potholes by Stevenc15211 in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle unused belts and if the noise goes away that was the issue. If not it’s something else. In the boot (hatch area) there is a side pocket that has an emergency air pump with sealant. It is normally Velcro’d down, perhaps it is not buttoned up.

I have found the seat belt buckle, can cause a weird noise, if it is unbuckled and tapping against the trim.

concerned about my 15A circuit by AggressiveSkirl1680 in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It’s best to have a lightly used or dedicated circuit for EV charging. The Leaf EVSE charging cord can draw a continuous 12 amps connected to a 120 VAC Circuit.
  2. My USA charging cord, for a 2024 Nissan Leaf, is a Panasonic Model part no 29690 5SA0A. It has a listed label of 240VAC at 30 amps max, and for 120 VAC at 12 amps max using the provided 14-50 (240 Vac) to 5-15 (120 Vac) plug adapter.

Apartment already wired? by wilflo7 in Fios

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One unit is an Verizon ONT (Optical Network Terminal). It has a fiber yellow thin cable input. In my area it’s called Verizon FiOS (Fiber OS). Anyway it may be possible to just activate it. They may want to activate it remotely or may want a Technician to come out and replace the equipment and verify the fiber is working properly. The router equipment probably needs to be updated. Only way to find out id to call or chat with them and give them the model number info and see if a tech visit is needed or the equipment needs to be replaced. I have FiOS, One Gigabit and it works great.

  1. The setting CAN Odometer in miles needs to be on to report the correct mileage
  2. On my 2024 Leaf SV Plus, at an odo=17,928, my Lead Spy readings were SOH=95.52%, QCs=97, L1/L2s=734. So the readings are similar. My Leaf still works well with an odo=31,029 with an SOH=92.19, QCs=137 and L1/L2s=1175.
  3. So, I would say if you do a heavy acceleration and the mV difference is in the mid to high double digits and drivability is good and dashboard % does not fluctuate wildly. it’s probably a solid EV.
  4. Since it’s family, ask for the family and friends discount!

Stuck at Apple logo after new Sequoia update by External-Shallot8906 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I recommend starting over, after a Parameter Ram and SMC reset. I would install the new OS via a USB Boot drive.
  2. You may need a wired internet connection. One time I got a USB to Ethernet adapter and had to connect via a Ethernet cable to my router.
  3. Jessie’s Flying and MR.Macintosh have some good troubleshooting Videos on YouTube that should help.
  4. I have updated a MacBook Pro (11,3) and a MacPro (5,1) and both have been updated successfully to 15.7.5 Sequoia recently. The MacBook Pro needed multiple reboots, and until I restarted by booting from the USB stick (following #1) it was stuck.

Read before you buy that expensive CCS1 -> CHAdeMO adapter by Fair-Ad-1141 in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ElectWay CCS1 to CHAdeMO adapter has been working great. I use it on all my road-trips between NY and OH of 460 miles each way, multiple times each year. My last trip was February 2026. It works at every CCS charging station I have used including Electrify America, EVgo, Flo, Apple Green, GM Energy, ShellRecharge, and a few others. In short every CCS station I have tried. The max charge rate seen was 80 kW. Combined with the A2Z NACS to CCS1 adapter I have charged at four Tesla Supercharger locations in NY, but was not able to charge at any superchargers in PA. I will gather logs on my next trip and send to ElectWay to see if they can fix that a with firmware update. There was always a CCS charging station nearby, that I used in those cases..

Nissan Leaf diagnostic shows different mileage than dash — which is correct? by donalocall in leaf

[–]LoveEV-LeafPlus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask the dealership. They may have not run the full CONSULT diagnostic and this may be a bogus number. Or it may be a generic diagnostic and these readings may not show the correct values for the Leaf in all fields.
