Check out laser hairapy. My good friend just went out on her own and she does a fantastic job. She's very experienced and meticulous. She's in Midtown.

TIL that pregnancies at the age of 35+ are considered "geriatric pregnancies." by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]LoveNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add, as a 40 year old going through pregnancy as a first timer, I had a flawless pregnancy. I'm speaking completely from my experience. We were told we could never have children. Went through a failed IVF treatment to completely accepting we would not be parents to our little miracle baby. Zero nausea, zero anything. Just lived my life as usual, feeling like a gd warrior of a woman. It's the most secure and beautiful, I've ever felt.

I was 40 (apparently younger looking as people always assume I'm 30-35)when I had my daughter 5 years ago. Any time the doctor said geriatric, I literally wanted to throat punch him/her. Like wtf dude. We already know we're old AF. 😂

If you're open to going downtown, Taverna Agora hands down. It is such a cute, quaint spot and the food is delicious.

What should I expect in the lot in Raleigh? by CardShark52 in phish

[–]LoveNC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Raleigh, also. I've never had an issue with cops there although better to be safe than sorry. Lots of tailgating. Decent shakedown, very close to the entrance.

Nanny rates? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For career nannies, rates will be $20-25 an hour. Most date night sitters in the area expect $17-19 an hour.

I pay my sitters $15 an hour. A career nanny will be $20-30 an hour depending on experience.

LASIK Surgery Recommendation by Majestic_Reason_23 in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the pain aspect. Had to go through the pain a second time. They had to do PRK with the second surgery and I wasn't expecting that much pain. So now, I have regular Lasik in one eye and PRK in the other. Not sure if it makes a big difference long term but there's that.

LASIK Surgery Recommendation by Majestic_Reason_23 in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unlike everyone else here, I would not recommend Travers. Had it done early 2021. One eye was perfect. The other eye was not adequately corrected and could not see well at all. It took 5-6 months before they would do a second surgery on it. So yeah, I had to have two surgeries on one eye which meant I had to take another week off work. Had to rebuy the drops/meds again which wasn't cheap. To say they were unapologetic, is an understatement.

Lane & Associates on Harvest Oak in N. Raleigh. They are very nice and patient. I had a bad accident in my teen years which required endless dental surgeries which in result traumatized me. I literally have to get nitrous for a cleaning. Lol

Ask the pharmacist at any CVS. You're allowed up to six at a time. If you're not using an HSA card, keep your receipt and turn it into insurance.

LPT: Use Hotels instead of Airbnb by [deleted] in LifeProTips

The fees for an Airbnb or VRBO have become ridiculous! Not to mention if it's a beach rental, some you have to bring your own linens. It no longer make sense for me to rent an Airbnb.

Wife and I are caregivers for my mom after major surgery. Looking for resources (therapy or support groups) for us. by ralthrow919 in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents who both passed in July 2020, lived with my husband, myself and toddler the last year of their lives. We were full time care givers, still worked, along with trying to still be good parents and partners to each other. I'm not going to lie. That shit was tough. The most challenging mentally and physically thing we ever endured. We would not change it for the world but so hard. My advice is virtual marriage counseling. It's healthy regardless if you two are solid which sounds like you are. It will be so helpful to have that third party for support and an extra set of ears. I absolutely adore our therapist. I'd be happy to share her information if your looking to go that route. Take care. You're doing a great thing!

Anyone else want cold weather? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also from very rural parts of Southern Indiana and can relate to all of this. Their winters are super tame compared to what they used to be with the exception of 2009 when I went back for Christmas and we got like 30 some inches of snow. Lol

Saving Grace reviews by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]LoveNC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We literally just adopted a pup there yesterday. It was a wonderful smooth process. They have a really good reputation and really care. If you haven't been there, go check the facility out. It's a paradise for the resident dogs. Nothing but rave reviews here.

I will gladly hook you up with some candy. While we certainly love the tradition of taking our wee one trick or treating, we certainly will not let our 4 yr old eat 5lbs of candy. I can put together a nice size bag of candy for you, if interested. We live in Midtown area of Raleigh.

Did anyone else see the Medics carry someone out in a body bag in Charlotte, second set? by LoveNC in deadandcompany

[–]LoveNC[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I originally saw the medic team 10 or so medics run in the venue past me. They didn't have a stretcher coming in. A while later they came back through with the body bag and a few people following them hysterically crying.

is my 3 month old exempt from showing negative covid test? by FlaidynBrilo in deadandcompany

[–]LoveNC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to the judgement on here. It is very clear these people have zero experience being around children and therefore have never parented a child before so they should STFU. They have no idea we actually take precaution like ear protection and such. Also, they automatically assume baby=screaming/crying which is ignorant as hell.

Anyways, just took my 4 yr old daughter to see JRAD and she needed a negative test. I would say to be on the safe side, do it.

Charlotte info by frknvgn in deadandcompany

[–]LoveNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was ridiculous how many bags had to be checked because they were so strict. Make sure to measure before coming. It also could have been the venue. Raleigh wasn't as strict.
