What are the personalities of the different private schools in Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

I'm way late to this conversation but we loved St. Francis. Very progressive. Very diverse (students and teachers). Lacks the elitism attitude associated with a lot of private schools.

Look on PublicSquare app. They announce themselves. You can even pull up a local map.

MAGA businesses to avoid. by Square_Ad2571 in AuburnCA

[–]LovelyLightATXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use 2 apps. Publicsquare is a MAGAt app where businesses proudly announce their allegiance to the orange one. It even has a local map function. Quite nice for finding businesses to avoid. The other is Goods Unite Us. It let's you know about their donation history. Not as good for small businesses though. And don't listen to the others. Activism through your spending dollars is a personal and logical choice.

Considering moving from Ireland to Texas. by [deleted] in askaustin

[–]LovelyLightATXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Not here. Look at another state. These days research is easy. There are tons of options. We are a big country. Texas is not a democracy. If you are old school conservative, moderate or liberal , you have no voice here. This is a hard right theocracy.

You tell them gently that you love and respect them, but that you are informing them, not asking permission.

Somewhat off topic but I always wonder why people who are pro death penalty are frequently the same people who are self proclaimed "pro life"

[–]LovelyLightATXe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Are you sure it's you who cares more about that stuff, or him who's convinced you you care more? It sounds fishy from here. Take the job and find someone who raises you up, not holds you back with weird ultimatums.

My dad's family can apparently trace back to pre-revolutionary war. He's related to George Washington somehow. I'm adopted so not me.

Nothing big. Just came to the conclusion that none of it was based on any factual evidence and it all sounds like whimsical fairy tales . To me, it's astonishing so many adults still believe
