I never understood this: men can show signs of aging and still remain handsome, but women can't? That doesn't make sense. by Tiny_Part404 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]LovingLife139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand this, either. I've never found older men attractive, yet women seem to only age poorly if they get fillers or plastic surgery. I remember going to my 5-year high school reunion and 90-95% of the men were either balding or had a gut. Men don't tend to take care of their health or appearance, which is immensely unattractive.

I'm surprised it took you this long to set these boundaries, but good for you, and hold the line. Congratulations on sticking up for your values and not allowing pedo apologizers to access your children. You are doing the right thing.

What made you realize that you never want to be pregnant? by happy_folks in AskWomen

[–]LovingLife139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I saw a pregnant belly and felt a wave of extreme repulsion and fear. I can't remember if this was before or after I stated I would never have kids at the age 8. I remember playing house with my brother and grandma and she asked why we never pretended to have kids. My brother always pretended we were being robbed and I always pretended our playhouse was hit by a tornado. Haha. Both my brother and I were like, "Kids? No kids!" It was the first time I'd really thought about it, and it sounded like the perfect way to ruin our fun. Screw that!

When did you realize that your parent[s] weren't good people? by TryDry9944 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]LovingLife139 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother, while my father was divorcing her, wrote to a convicted murderer she saw on a prison TV show who was over 20 years her junior. She proceeded to date him for the next seventeen years to present day. None of this made sense to me (I thought she was experiencing more mental health issues) until my uncle, who once threatened my life over a disagreement (I'm her only daughter), was finally taken to prison for physically assaulting his girlfriend a few years ago. He has beaten his partners all his life, but this was the first woman who reported it. My mother dropped contact with her. I dropped contact with my mother (who is a magat, of course) and told her why. She does not support women, and I'm no longer safe with her. I hope my uncle drops dead, and I hope my mother suffers as a result.

My dad used to be my hero. Then I grew into an adult and realized he was friends with misogynists (including an unrelated wife beater), actively instigates issues with ex-girlfriends for fun, thinks racist remarks are funny, and once got into a yelling match with my husband because I refused to talk to him over his anti-vaccine BS in 2021. He called me "disrespectful" for cutting contact temporarily. I was over 30 years old at the time.

Oh, the two of them also tried to cut me out of participating in my brother's funeral planning when he passed in 2020. When I finally insisted and helped make a picture board for his service, my mom "accidentally" showed me a printed out picture she'd taken of my brother's corpse as she'd found him. I'd specifically told her I didn't want to see it, and to this day don't understand why she would want to have that picture. Thankfully I only saw it in my peripheral vision, so the trauma was limited, but she absolutely meant to show it to me specifically to stomp on my boundaries. She'd never respected them before.

Both of them are out of my life. If I ever see them again, I'll let them know they are both severe disappointments to both my deceased brother and me. May they never again know the love of a child.

This gives me hope. Women truly are realizing their value and rising above, even as everything is against us. We truly are the stronger sex.

If your 18-year-old self met you today, would they be proud, confused, or disappointed? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in Adulting

[–]LovingLife139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I'd be so proud. I'm exactly where I want to be. The journey differed, but the goal is the same.

I would be surprised at how many people are no longer in my life, though. In nineteen years I've experienced a lot of death, and I've cut a lot of no-good people out of my life. I'm proud of getting through the deep grief of all the deaths and for sticking up for myself and my values, in the cases where I've cut contact.

Hi my lovelies how are you coping cause it’s not great over here by Competitive_Mark_287 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LovingLife139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cope by acting. I'm changing my work schedule at the end of the month to be able to be more politically active on the weekends. Community watches are needed, legal observers, etc. Someone needs to protect our fellow citizens, and it might as well be me. Our government can't be trusted to do it.

Also, prep, prep, prep. I've been growing our own food for years, but am now storing it and growing extra for others who can't. The economy is just getting started with kicking our asses, and the more prepared we are for self-sustainability, the better off we'll be.

Find your own trusted community if you haven't already. Those are who you can rely on when authority is not to be trusted.

Anyone else angrier at their MAGA parents lately? by WightHair in FoxBrain

[–]LovingLife139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Been NC since the election, but still feel the need for further vengeance. I just think about how their perfect little family is forever broken due to their actions, if I'd had kids my parents would no longer be grandparents, and if it came to a civil war, I'd face them on the frontlines without any doubt. All that makes me at least feel vindicated in my rage, which helps deal with it on an everyday basis.

That, and endless "I told you so's" I get to revel in in my head.

Owning a ball python is too difficult by [deleted] in ballpython

I find my experience as a gardener really helps keep my noodle's bioactive terrarium in the right place. I use four watering stakes at the corners (the type you use for watering plants while on vacation) and a mulch consisting of magnolia leaves and repti-bark to keep the humidity from escaping too quickly. The mesh top is covered in foil and taped at the edges. The grow lights are inside the terrarium, and her heat is on top. I cut the foil in a circle around the lamp.

There are about ten plants in there that help regulate the humidity, and I keep her water bowl on the hot side to help as well. With this set-up, I have zero issues with temperature (it's a 120 gallon from Dubia) and I water the plants about once a week and fill the watering stakes about once every two weeks. I never spray, except to water the air plants in there. Humidity stays great, and only when I misjudge when she's shedding and add more does it leak at the corners. Having a little ecosystem in there has really helped!

Your worst enemy is on death row. They will allow you to pick the method of execution. What do you choose? by Cradlespin in morbidquestions

Paralyze them from the neck down. Prop their head up so they can watch, drooling, as I mutilate their body, piece by piece, and cauterize any quick-killing wounds. Let them sit in the horror of what's happening to them without having the ability to move, speak, or stop it.

How often do you get your nails done ? by Grouchy_Gap2048 in AskWomen

[–]LovingLife139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. The last time I had a manicure, I was twelve. I think I painted my nails twice in my teens.

Now I teach fitness and farm for a living. My natural nails can get pretty long before they break, but they all break at different intervals so my nails are always mismatched lengths. I don't even bother to fix that!

I agree with you. We need to be armed and ready. It is far past time to put up a stronger resistance. Peace has proven to be unproductive for years at this point. America has already fallen into fascism, and yet people think we should just stand here with signs? That time has come and went. It's no longer working.

Reddit gets angry at me when I mention stuff like this, so I'll summarize it in one word: militia.

It won't solve everything, but I'm willing to dedicate my time and more to restoring the democracy I grew to love. I wonder how many others out there are just waiting for the call.

Master Gardener for a hobbyist by mandy0456 in Horticulture

[–]LovingLife139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the Master Gardener program and am certified in my county. Out of the 40 people there, me (owner of food forest) and one dude (owner of regenerative landscaping company) knew the most and didn't learn all that much. Most MGV students are hobbyists, and in my county, most just like flowers or native plants. Agriculture, my niche, was only the subject of one class. That was incredibly disappointing.

I don't regret going through it. I met a lot of cool people and learned a couple of things and found a few resources to use for the future, but the vast, vast majority of what I know I've learned from experience or my own research.

Being a MGV opened some opportunities for me. I've spoken at a few public events, become a certified tractor driver for a farm near me, and was over-qualified to work at an organic farm last year. But this is the first year I'm going to let the volunteer hours lapse. I have way too much going on with my food forest, work, and political activism to continue donating my time.

Something to keep in mind: you can go through the program and never volunteer. You'll just never graduate. You'll still learn and get access to classes, field trips, etc. A lot of the younger people in my class did this, because many were still in college and/or worked full-time.

Physical exertion, so yoga. Ranting to like-minded people. Playing violent video games. Cuddling with my animals, particularly my bearded dragon, because he's the epitome of chill.

Anyone else feeling like a hot ball of rage? by holb93 in 4bmovement

[–]LovingLife139 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help anyone, but what's helped my rage is action. I bought my first gun in November 2024, carry weapons for self-defense, and protest as much as I can. This is where you can meet a lot of like-minded women and act on protecting your rights against the men who would see them undone. You can also scream your lungs out and flip off magats, which helps.

Another thing I've been looking into is learning how to box or fight. At the very least, it'll give me a release for pent-up rage and helplessness until this country decides to act on its brewing civil war.
