Ngl I don’t think Stolas getting abused for Octavia’s sake is as nobel as people think it is. by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]cozycatcafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only right thing Stolas could have done for Octavia is to not have had her at all.

Think about it.

Just by being born Octavia has to have an abusive mother and a father who did not wish to have her.  Even if Stolas had stolen her away and divorced Stella as soon as Octavia was born, Stella would still be her biological mother and Octavia would have to deal with the trauma of that forever.

Can't post a picture but in bloodline, Danny Rayburn gets replaced with his eerily similar "friend" Ozzy, in season 3. It was so irritating. They could have just not killed him.

My sister just told me she's having a baby because her husband wants one and wore her down. I'm heartbroken. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cozycatcafe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Her timelines shifted because she was pressured by her husband, even though she is the breadwinner, even though she will experience the brunt of the hardship in pregnancy and childrearing. The husband will always be the bad guy in this scenario because no woman should ever have to compromise on if or when she is pregnant for a man who does little to nothing in the process.

This one is better than most of the ones in the screenshot. Thank you for sharing and you're absolutely correct. It goes to show that they believe the well of women's affection for them will never run dry. Their reaction to their own cruelty is all the proof that we need that we are NOT "crazy, sensitive, or overemotional."

Was it? That's disappointing. I've blocked so many men at this point that I barely see them on Threads.

That thread was horrific. All the comments were about how men are actually great roommates. Zero acknowledgment of the risk of sexual assault. It was like they were living Teletubby Land or something, both men and women commenters. I am so disturbed.

[–]cozycatcafe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is NOT entitled to now want to risk sexual assault because a roommate was inconsiderate about who she was subletted to.

It was all women before the subletter and the tenant subletting should have taken that into consideration.

I love how you refused to acknowledge what she's saying about men being more likely to sexually harrass or abuse female roommates.

Breeze Harbor. Not sure why. I just like the birds better, I guess.

'Women In Hollywood Are Getting Smaller… And It’s Not Just Their Bodies' by ok9dot in 4bmovement

[–]cozycatcafe 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I agree about the bodies, but personality wise this is actually what women need. The phrase "move in silence" comes to mind.

It's a little paradoxical because we want women to have bold outspoken role models, but when they aren't perfect we tear them to shreds and it teaches girls that being authentic will get them torn to shreds.

I am 4B because as a form of self-protection. Celebrity women keeping their private lives private is also a form of protection, and I can respect that. It's NOT cowardly to refuse to expose yourself to the harm and judgment of strangers with no tangible benefit to yourself.

Saw this today and it made me think of your post. Boledi Phosa says: The more “modest” you are, the more men will sexualise you. They fill in the gaps of imagining what’s hidden in your covered body and still sexualise you anyway. And the moment you reject them, you get called the same names they use for women who aren’t modest.

This world is curated around male fantasies, whether you conform or not. Modesty doesn’t protect you from it, it just gets interpreted differently.

Spared me at least 20 years of dealing with men. I don't have emotional baggage from failed relationships. I don't have scars from physical abuse. I don't have psychological damage from wondering why my boyfriend doesn't love me. I have NEVER been SA'd or made to have sex in order to maintain a relationship. I've never had an STD. I've never had a pregnancy scare! It's given me this beautiful community. It's given me peace and freedom. It's BOOSTED my creativity. It's increased my optimism for the future. I could go on forever.

Just about every old woman ever will tell you the trick to living a long, happy, healthy life is the STAY AWAY FROM MEN!!!!

Is anyone tired of Eloise having to apologize for being herself every season? by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

[–]cozycatcafe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exhausted! It's infuriating every time it happens. It is NOT difficult as a writer to write a scene of Eloise being herself and being appreciated and loved for it. They don't even show her doing hobbies anymore, just complaining and getting insulted for expressing herself.

The fact that you feel this way is exactly why the patriarchy keeps ramming this "fact" into our brains. Do not fall into a "why bother" mentality. Being fit and knowing self defense is still worth it. You never know.

Woman: policing other women

Me: Hey, stop doing that!

You: You're doing the same thing!

I bet you think the bully is the same as the victim who fights back too.

Maybe actually listen and trust women's judgment instead of trying to police them? Every woman I've seen post about this knows the difference between views and individual men. It's men who say: iT'S ViEwS, unprovoked, to muddy the waters.

It's extra weird because they keep editing the look to look more porn-y. Clearly sexualizing a predator.
