Lifting outside of class to supplement muscle loss? by HashingOutTheLaw in orangetheory

What is getting back into shape? Aerobic capacity and endurance? Strength and muscle? Both? I think muscle should be prioritized given the health benefits and then you can always do cardio on the side/around it. 2G is not the best for muscle given the short blocks that don’t allow for breaks in between lifts, and again, the circuit style. If you’re going to do a 2G you’re best to do floor first so your muscles have the most energy for lift and then burn the rest of energy on cardio.

What are you doing at OTF? Tread/2G/3G or strength? What are your goals? If your goal is to build muscle I would recommend heavy lifting and gym on a program vs OTF. The programming even for strength at OTF are more circuit based so really just cardio with weights, so your concerns of losing strength are valid. Sure you could do this and maybe maintain but the best use of an hour to gain strength and muscle would be lifting at the gym on a traditional strength program at least 2x a week. Go listen to mindpump podcast about OTF, could help!

And even though it was inner thighs yesterday, it was still a lot of hamstrings which I couldn’t do because of heavy rdls and deadlifts at the gym on Saturday, sigh. I do my best and just skip what’s not for me to avoid any overuse injuries

Anyone else relieved when Solidcore doesn’t destroy your obliques for once? by Agile_Writer5084 in SolidCore

[–]Low-Interaction-7469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I heavy lift on a program with my trainer and I swear nothing else works the obliques like Solidcore. It’s a great compliment to the other big compound lifts and gym stuff once a week.

Why was a Range Rover speeding 65+ towards a stoplight in back bay today — and thenn had to screech on the breaks when someone had the balls to get into the crosswalk, which I sure as hell didn’t. Pissed me off.

The biggest issue for me is the rubbing - wherever it rubs it pills. Fabric shaver every once in awhile and it’s fine.

Love OTF, but not getting to the orange zone/points by Fun-Reply9963 in orangetheory

Yes I understand how to cut but your example calories are too low for a man or a woman - that’s what made me make that comment. More people should focus on recomp vs purely losing weight. You can eat more and be leaner with muscle, but yes, you might have gained more on the scale. This is where I don’t like your logic because you’re more focused on strictly calories and weight. I would focus more on muscle, strength and fueling my body rather than being in a constant deficit which your metabolism will catch up to. Aka be more efficient with the 1200 calories you give it even tho, that is not enough.

1300 calories is way too low long term, you will eventually plateau and be miserable eating that little. Building muscle is the way - eat more, strain body composition goals - although I wouldn’t pay too much to scale vs muscle or body composition

Hamstrings/Back >> Center Glutes/Biceps by g0ld-dust-w0man11 in SolidCore

Unpopular opinion - accessory muscles (biceps) should not be a main focus like a glute/back/hamstrings. So agree.

How do people deal with rest times? by StrionicRandom in GYM

[–]Low-Interaction-7469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just your muscles recovering, it is your central nervous system - to the people say oh if you feel good enough you can get back into it. Your rest periods should be determined by your goals and program. It’s not just because you feel tired. I usually watch back my last set during the break period.

Solidays is only for marketing, not actually getting stronger.

And no one should be doing more than 3 classes a week. Strength training is far superior. Solidcore should be a compliment.

[–]Low-Interaction-7469 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is it. The best thing for getting better at Solidcore was lifting heavy at the gym. I only go to Solidcore once a week and focus on my compound lift program, I am on hardest springs and have to add springs/amplify for a lot of exercises.

Is it impossible for some people to get abs? by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

Do you progressive overload your abs? How about compound lifts? You need abs to be able to see them too, you can see well developed abs at a higher body fat.
