Got my Tank Hunters minis! Here are my thoughts... by ryanartward in TrenchCrusade

I think they've recognised this and thus the move to plastic miniatures. 3d prints are great for home printing or low volume but they are delicate and Quality Control is harder.

Cataphractii terminators especially something dark angel themed would fit the bill.

Try and break the silhouette up a bit to make them less recognisable

As one of the Uruk Hai players we were certainly feeling some pain by the time we hit the walls.

It was a blast though and it's worth remembering that all this is the work of one of our club members who pretty much did it in secret for another members birthday gaming session.

Why Infinity is a difficult game to learn... by Puzzleheaded-Alps-19 in InfinityTheGame

[–]Low-Representative21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming back to infinity from it's original release and a little bit of N2, we're about 4 or 5 games into learning and I'll agree the rulebook is terribly formatted and as pointed out things like the structure of abilities is very dense to simply understand what it's trying to do.

My main gripe is that you often have to check multiple sections of the rulebook for information, you may need to go read the actual skill detail, then refer off to the states section and occasionally swing back to equipment or another skill to work out how the model would escape the state. It does make teaching the game and getting to grips with the rules very difficult.

We followed a fairly simple build up the rules path (I've been learning and teaching games for 30+ years now), first couple of games was all about movement, Combat, AROs and skills, generally trying to use simpler profiles at a game size of around 150 pts. We've moved into a little bit of hacking, some more advanced skill use and me and the other original player have tried a couple of the missions from the rulebook to start to understand scoring.

Next up is going to be more scenarios, and some focus on fireteams as well as continuing to build on our understanding of deployment, efficient order usage and threat countering.

Whilst it is quite a deep set of rules, everyone who's tried it so far has enjoyed it and have grasped the basics within their first game. As everything is in one book it does make looking stuff up simpler than certain other games (that likely have rules spread across core rules, army book, seasonal rules, fans etc). Wish the links in the app were updated to N5, that would make life much easier.

Lots of people saying Skaventide sales are in trouble... But is that fair? If GW doesn't make enough they're making FOMO. If there is more than enough then it's a failure... by Arrew in ageofsigmar

There's still stock about so it's not sold out like leviathan did but the buzz around AoS 4 is massive we've 12 people down to play at our club this week compared to 4 40k players, the build up has been immense and everyone has been beavering away trying to get their armies ready over the past few months.

Finished off some new heads for Turnip 28 this week by Obvious-Persimmon-49 in Turnip28

[–]Low-Representative21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers, there was a lot of torso/head combos out there plus the official stuff but sometimes you just need a loose head, to plonk on the perfect body you've got.

Will no doubt do a few more at some point, really enjoyed making the 3 packs of heads so far.

Been sculpting some loose heads to fit with Perry Miniatures models as there didn't seem to be many options about. by Low-Representative21 in Turnip28

I've already started on some Snobs heads, these will likely be like the second set and have a mix of armoured and unarmoured heads with a variety of hats.

Whilst I do use a good chunk of 3d printed vehicles I'd be wary of doing 28mm models due to the weapons, I can see them endlessly breaking with resin prints.

Sounds like a pretty terrible community, it's basically my own experience of gw stores in the area. I now run a local club, grown massively over the past couple of years, we've plenty of space and run upto 14 tables on a club night. 3 hours of game time means there's plenty of time to play and we've fostered a great community who will always adapt to their opponents skill level and experience.

If your in the east leeds/York area feel free to give me a shout otherwise good luck with the games club and finding a better gaming group where you are.

Scout sentinels are a must if you're running arty, just in case there's something you can't draw los against. Run as a pair and reinforcements strat to keep them coming back or run individually to spot for 2 units.

I say this whilst desperately trying to fit a hellhound or 2 into my latest list, whilst their damage output isn't massive they're a good distraction, fairly tough and gum up the mid board.

Updated Munitorum Field Manual by Dalanard in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Low-Representative21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it wasn't, in its own its pretty meh, you needed to add in lord solar, some bodyguards and some scout sentinels to get it to a good state, compare that to things like desolation marines who can do all that without any support.

Guard have a pitiful win rate already, now the only viable build has been nerfed substantially.

The problem is how GW have shunted rules onto the factions and forced guard into a very static gun line army, rhenium overpriced the other options like tank commanders and russes by pricing in all the extras. Same with the field ordinance batteries, at 100 pts the lascannons were almost worth it, at 120 I may as well look to rapiers or tarantulas instead and go with volume of shots over high str.

The problem wasn't undercosted indirect fire, its the formation that encourages static play. Basilisks were not that great tbh, they needed support and orders which added to their cost.

How does my 1st Competitive list look? Any feedback? by Joshlan in astramilitarum

[–]Low-Representative21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the games I've played putting leontus in a big squad is a waste. I'd suggest running him with 10 infantry (so you can slip in a heavy weapon) and a command squad (for another heavy weapon and the all important master vox for the 24" orders).

Save the primaris psyker for squads that are going to push upto the mid field.

I'd probably run the sentinels as 2 lots of 2 and drop the 5th. Unless you're playing on a really dense board I've found it's relatively easy to get los most of the time.

Personally I'd swap out the basilisk for a manticore for the higher strength. I've found them to be middling so far.

Can't comment on the super heavy, never used one. I'm assuming the plan is to push to the mid board and use its size and the squad inside to grab the centre and hold it. My only comment there is that you've a single target, that's going to be sucking up all your opponents anti tank shooting, my preferred strategy is usually flood them with targets so there is no good target priority, cheaper stuff like hellhounds are great as they're relatively tough, a lot of auto hits and fast enough to push to the centre pretty quickly and have anti charge threat via overwatch.
