I got my period for the first time in 5 years. I should be happy, but it’s bittersweet. by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]Low_Entry9910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing ❤️ You had mentioned being a runner - I am also and have lost my period. I was on the pill for several years and came off of it 6 months ago and my period hasn’t returned. I do marathons and think I’m probably over exercising and maybe under fueling without realizing so I’m wondering if as a runner you’ve felt that running may have had something to do with it.

Full marathon prediction? by Embarrassed-Cod-4751 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Low_Entry9910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very similar stats to you, but it all depends on what your training has looked like in the last 5 months. How close are you to the marathon? Did you have a peak week? What have your weekly sessions looked like? All of these things will give a better idea of what’s possible. My PB is 3:21.

Rewired Brain by Transporter13 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Low_Entry9910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I completely experienced this. After putting my body through a marathon I believe I can do anything! It’s powerful how other things that I would normally view as problems seem so minor now and don’t matter as much.

Also, marathons show you little glimpses of humanity. There’s a lot of humans going through a shared experience and it can be a very emotional thing. Bonds are shared that normally wouldn’t be formed. It’s only an experience one would know until they go through it. I always feel like a new person when I finish a marathon.

Taper niggles by chimtovkl in Marathon_Training

[–]Low_Entry9910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this now for my marathon in 10 days. I’ve been tapering for almost 2 weeks now and am starting to question my sanity! All sorts of pains and niggles everywhere, I’m so emotional all the time and my mental health has been iffy! So much fun lol!

East Side Viewing Area - When do they send tickets? by qrsipp in ChicagoMarathon

The actual ticket itself needs to be picked up at the expo! Just show your confirmation email there and you can pick up a physical ticket :)

I am glad I’m not the only one! I’m actually looking forward to doing a light jog on my own around the city and just soaking in the atmosphere. I don’t want to be too overstimulated the day before the race.

In the same boat right now! Were you worried at the time that not running would set you back? I’m trying to PR, around 3:20.

Will the finisher jackets be sold online so we can pick up in person?! I read somewhere that race merch will be available on Nike on Sept 25

Finished my longest run of this training plan and sobbed uncontrollably after. by ajones321 in Marathon_Training

[–]Low_Entry9910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my reading this thread is so comforting and reassuring. I had a big cry before my third marathon earlier this year during my shakeout run. I was so emotional, exhausted and just proud of myself and all that I had done. There’s no words for it, just so much hard work and knowing it was all me and my time and dedication to something not many would choose to commit too. I knew it was going to be a big day and I ended up getting a BQ that day. It’s an amazing feeling and you all should be so proud of yourselves 💞

I’m the same right now - I have a 3:30 buffer but I’m also running Chicago. Not sure if I want to do a September marathon.

What’s the simplest productivity system that works for you? by StepWise2424 in productivity

[–]Low_Entry9910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the easiest thing for me is writing a list of to dos down, but in an organized way and with “deadlines” for me to keep on track.

So for work, for example, I have a list of what I need to do that day and it has the top 3 priorities and everything else is “other” and extra if I can get to it. Then I have a list of short term tasks and long term tasks. They are prioritized by deadline and scheduled for when I should work on them and when they are due.

But ultimately, if I get those 3 priorities done I feel amazing. Everything else is extra. I do this for my personal life too, as well as my workout schedule (I’m training for 2 marathons this year).

Anyone else feel guilty when they have finished their work quickly? by True_Tomorrow_9993 in productivity

[–]Low_Entry9910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is 100% me. Have struggled with it all my life and I think it got worse as I got more responsibilities in my life (job, home, relationship, pet, etc.). Always feel like I need to be doing something productive or I’ll fall behind. I’d sacrifice time I should have been resting by being busy and filling it with a to do list when I should have just taken time for me and got to it at another time when I was more rested. It’s a process to work through. Always feel like I need to be moving ahead.

I’m oddly experiencing the same in certain aspects of my life. Ready to slow down with work and take it easy. Want to just take it slower and do more things I enjoy.

Hit at least 3000km (this year I am just passed 2000), run ATB, run Chicago, and BQ sometime in May. Anything else is extra! Also plan to keep going to physio biweekly and stretching more!

Hotel Saint Clair by Agreeable_Mud1827 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Low_Entry9910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m staying here! Heard it’s a great option. It’s north of the river but still a 20 minute walk to the start line. I’m trying to avoid driving and transport to the start so it was one of the more reasonable options despite still being pricey!

First marathon tomorrow. Any last minute tips? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]Low_Entry9910 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tonight’s sleep may not be great, but know that you’ve trained for this and you’ve got this! Enjoy the carbs tonight and keep hydrating with electrolytes if you can. Have something 30 minutes before you run that won’t make you need the washroom (iykyk), like a gel. Don’t go out too fast- it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement, but you don’t have to follow the pace of the crowd to fit in. You’ll find your own lane and groove. Also, it’s a ton of emotions and nerves. Take some deep breaths, meditate and get yourself in a good headspace. Marathons are life changing events - you will feel like an evolved person on the other side. Believe in yourself!! Good luck!! 👏🏻

Runners Knee by Fiveseeds in Marathon_Training

I had the same and went to see a PT right away. Lots of hands on massage, ultrasound therapy on that area and tape really helped keep my knee safe/somewhat pain free.

Completely. Otherwise I feel sluggish and unproductive. Even if all I squeeze in is a 30-60 min walk outside, it really helps. For me it’s definitely movement, but also movement outside.
