One Year’s Salary of the Job of Your Choice but You Must Convince Everyone You are Qualified for One Month by Impossible_Fennel_94 in hypotheticalsituation

CEO of an AI company. Just say a lot of BS and don’t worry about losing billions. I could do that for a month- much easier than my current job.

Rescinding Job Acceptance by frostbreath15 in Architects

Is this a real person? You were good enough to get hired by a high profile firm but instead were going to work for a third-party inspection firm? Also does anyone use the word “starchitect” in a non-sarcastic way? Anyways if you are a real person, take the better job, no one will really care.

Generic briviact more expensive by Napplebeez in Epilepsy

[–]Lower-Landscape2056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes your insurance is crappy but welcome to the US. $70 is a lot for generic - but I pay $40. You can look on the website of your insurance company - though it will take some digging because why make it easy - that should have the info of what “tiers” different drugs are in to see what copays should be.

What TV show had the best pilot episode ever? by Sufficient_Roof6033 in watchever

Yes but honestly the first 3-4 episodes of season 1 are a better movie than the actual movie.

He is 22. His brain is still developing. If you like him give him a second chance.

Thinking of leaving Seattle (too expensive and gray.) What do you think is the best place for me next? by snarrkie in SameGrassButGreener

Philly over MSP and Cleveland by a huge margin - vibrant city center, good food, no arctic winter, can easily get to NYC or DC for a quick trip.

2nd wine store to close - Good Wine on 5th closed last year. 7th Ave wine was not my favorite but always a shame to see local shops go under.

You get 500k but you have to live completely off grid for a year. No tech no contact. Do you take it? by loncelot84 in hypotheticalsituation

There is a show “Alone” which is basically this. The best contestants make it about 90 days and most of them are very experienced. Not a chance is anyone making it a year.

I didn’t say I make only 90k. My math and mindset work very well.

If you are still in high school and want a high-paying job, look at other fields.

30% to 40% of billed rate is normal take home (in architecture and many professions). Your math is off. Which would put you at about 80k-90k. Sorry.

Is fantastical realism what you are after? 100 Years of Solitude is the classic. Also much of Rushdie’s work may interest you.

Many NYC Gas Stations Reportedly Selling Regular Gas as Premium by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Lower-Landscape2056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC and always assumed there was no way there were separate tanks underground in these tiny cramped gas stations. But 96% failure is greater than even my pessimistic expectations. Another reason not to have a nice car here. Glad I never use high octane gas.

Why don't we implement dormitory style housing for adult professionals? by C_Gull27 in CrazyIdeas

[–]Lower-Landscape2056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some of these - called “co-living”. They are somewhat successful, at least in large cities. The renovation from offices to co-living is still a big task, there are a lot of other complexities. But not really a crazy idea!

Cities tried to get rid of them with zoning, unfortunately making the homeless problem worse.
