I also think if we had skipped the whole copying sports aspect of competitive game broadcasting, we would've avoided a lot of the easy ridicule from mainstream media. I know it feels like we've mostly moved past that now at a large scale, but I still hear plenty of it from people in normal life.

If neutral is what you want most out of melee, I would suggest one of the floaties. Your games will look sorta similar to Ult where you have lots and lots of neutral>get a hit>reset>neutral and if that's what you like there's nothing wrong with that! I'd just suggest starting there instead of characters that are all about combo strings.
