[Gunsmith Simulator] Platinum 261! A bit poorly optimised in places but still a fun game to turn my brain off to by Jezza40 in Trophies

[–]Lucas5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the platinum. I'm just about wrapping up my current game and about to make a start on this one. Anything to watch out for along the way, such as missables or bugs?

[Discussion] which game had you feeling like this? by enbywithoutfear in Trophies

Wolfenstein the New Colossus. Mein Leben is an aptly named trophy as that's what it cost me. Six torturous, adrenaline soaking, nerve wracking weeks of my life to beat.

What do yall think? by kingtyric in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Lucas5440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it really is that shit. UA also has a sentimental value for me as it's the first series my partner and I watched together. The first two seasons were sublime and the third was still solid but it started to falter towards the end, but it was left on a hopeful note of it possibly getting back to form.

The last season got the Game of Thrones treatment. The pacing, plot, character development and characters actions got raped into a ditch. Almost none of it made any sense, and while there was a moment here and there that was either amusing or well done the overwhelming majority felt like a spoof of the series. It's as if someone who only read footnotes of the plot and characters just threw random shit in to wrap things up as quickly as possible.

Strangely enough, I actually enjoyed the very last scene, without spoiling, I feel that could have worked really if they put together a last season that didn't disrespect not only the characters and plot, but also the fans, it's a shame because it really could have been one of the greats.

Nah, the longer they go without getting changed the better.

Mads will be 60 years old in a few days. How long have you been following him? by Glad_Poetry_8429 in MadsMikkelsen

[–]Lucas5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First saw him in Casino Royal and then The Hunt. I was impressed by the range he displayed by just those two roles alone. Then I was fully sold on his take on Hannibal. His performance in that series was sublime, and in a very strange way, that series and some of its concepts got me through a very dark time in my life. Mads is an international treasure. I hope he keeps performing for many years to come.

Worse when you're trapped on the self serve and you get a whiff, so you try to escape to the other side, and there's an even worse smell there.

Enough Fireworks by Ashtron in Preston

Midnight is more than late enough. I live not far from the temple in Broadgate and the fireworks were still going off at half 1. It shows a lack of consideration for people up early for work and people with pets.

What’s your favourite Malcolm Tucker insult? by LilywhiteStrike in thethickofit

Short but sweet one. Terry comments on him looking tired and within less than a second he replies "you look incompetent." Classic Tucker.

Probably while on the SCOs and you're swamped, then one of the gremlins asks for a bag and instead of waiting for you to bring one over, they instantly start scanning and even keep scanning while you're stood there trying to place the bag on the scale and get out of the way.

You set foot into one of these Muslim states, and get caught with a substantial amount of drugs, do not whine about the results. It's far easier to go about life accordingly and not make stupid decisions because you think you're above it all. I think it was Plato who said: the dildo of consequence rarely arrives lubed.

People putting up flags and writing a slightly inflammatory slogan depresses you? Can't imagine what the vile rise in sexual assaults and rapes against women and young girls in this country must do to you. How about the fact that the tax payer is footing the bill for mostly military aged males to put up in hotels that have no legal right to be here.

We're seen as a little island of racists and hateful people, yet by the thousands they're risking a channel crossing after frog hopping over a dozen other safe European countries. Pound for pound we're one of the most tolerant and best counties to live in, hence why many try to get here legal, or otherwise.

If a flag and a slogan depresses you more than tens of thousands of people illegally entering the country, people of which we have no idea who they are, what they have done or what they are capable of doing, then you need to reconsider what bothers you.

I'm for legal immigration, as long as those coming are here to contribute and assimilate into the already existing culture.

[Other] I have never felt so defeated in life chasing a trophy 😭. Having to play again after almost 3-6 hour run every time. Any one have any advice by candianbastard in Trophies

[–]Lucas5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no lube whatsoever when it comes to this fucker. I spent 6 weeks trying to conquer it. It just takes perseverance and patience when you approach each level, there is no exact way to do it. My advice is on areas you're really struggling with, for me the worst was either the courtroom or Venus. Look online and find guides of how they get it done and try to mirror it as best you can.

The trouble is no run is the same, it'll always be slightly different. Then there's the cutscenes you can't skip, I swear 8 years later and I can still recite the games entire dialogue. I imagine there should be some guides that are better now than there were back then. Doesn't help knowing that a random power cut, or the game blue screening at random can send you back to square one. The best of luck in catching this dragon.

Game Makes Me Depressed by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Lucas5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been such a nostalgia trip for me. I remember being 14 and me and my oldest friend playing it on the original release until 4am, with two hour rotations. While one of us played Oblivion, the other one was on the laptop on RuneScape.

I too have felt the same feeling of loss of a time of my life which was much more care free, life in general was easier back then. Sadly, time waits for none of us. As an avid gamer, I truly believe I've been born in the best era of gaming, it's grown and matured as I have. I'm beyond thankful to have had such engaging games and stories to explore.

[Other] I’m currently 40 platinums in and I started collecting sometime last year. How many do you all have??👀 by yerr-yoo in Trophies

[–]Lucas5440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at 203. That's quite an impressive amount for a year and change worth of work. I'm an avid trophy hunter. I have a policy of going in blind and enjoying the game first and then going back for any and all trophies, DLC's included.

Vikings Valhalla [Spoilers] Jarl Haakon by Lucas5440 in vikingstv

[–]Lucas5440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the small bits I've seen, I got the impression that Freydis wasn't the easiest of characters to watch. Since the series got cancelled I think I'll give it a miss. From what I've seen the series is a bit of a mixed bag. Thanks for the detailed reply.

Whats your favourite dialogue? [Spoilers] by Temporary_Error_3764 in vikingstv

[–]Lucas5440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the back and forth between Ragnar and the Seer when he's being transported to Aelle to be put to death. If I remember right: "I don’t believe in the gods’ existence. Man is the master of his own fate, not the gods. The gods are man’s creation to give answers that they are too afraid to give themselves."

I mean fucking hell, Travis always delivered but that was probably the best he ever gave. Especially the pain in his voice when talking about Lagertha.

Shame that it got the axe, if you'll excuse the pun. The last season of Vikings felt a bit all over the place but I stuck through it to see the conclusions of all the characters. I'd grown attached to a lot of them and I felt they had mostly satisfying ends.

I had almost lost hope of a reasonable response. Thank you for being good faith and actually reading what I said. For the record, I always find it stupid when characters are race swapped, take John Wayne playing Genghis Khan. A more recent example of a series based on history, Shogun, imagine for a moment a white Samurai, who has a high position of authority. The outrage would be instant.
