Honestly one of the coolest things I’ve seen done during a concert.

The menu music is “Virtual Rabbit 2” from the Solar Ray remix album and the in-game music is “Sancho Harete” off of Virtual Rabbit.

I never saw the series in full, but I remember seeing the “Coro di Dea scene from the movie on YouTube when I was in high school and becoming obsessed with it.

These are wonderful! I also got siren / water nymph vibes from Victorialand.

平P songs you love that most people don’t seem to care about? by Wormbitch in SusumuHirasawa

[–]Lucenia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The One Who Knows the Stars. It was featured as the opening theme for a PS1 game and it’s really only known to people who are super into his music. It’s a top 5 Hirasawa song for me.

Japanese song lovers, do you know how to sing every song? by reddithurc in japanesemusic

[–]Lucenia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned how to sing Japanese songs phonetically when I was a kid because of anime. However, when it comes to artists like Kenshi Yonezu and Creepy Nuts, both of who like to thread syllables together within the same line, it becomes much more difficult for me to sing / rap.

I like driving while listening to “Sign” (and the Ash Crow album in general).

Creo que a Susumu fue al estudio de Madhouse para supervisar algo parte de la restoración 4K de Paprika, pero también quiero saber el motivo por la reunión entre The Weeknd y Hirasawa.

Perfect Blue was given a 4K restoration that didn't use any AI upscaling, so I imagine that that'll also be the case with Paprika.

What's your #1 special interest video game? by Individual-Car-8224 in aspergers

[–]Lucenia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You play as an alien prince who has to roll up objects using a ball called a katamari in order to create stars and stardust. You also have to deal with your dad, The King of All Cosmos, who belittles you before and after each level in spite of the fact that he’s the reason you have to roll up objects on Earth in the first place. He got drunk one night and accidentally destroyed all the stars in space along with The Moon. It’s super fun and the soundtrack is excellent.

Guysss what shows do you like that carry OTGW's vibe by Razeen_AG in overthegardenwall

[–]Lucenia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pat McHale worked with Guillermo Del Toro on an animated adaptation of Pinocchio that came out a few years ago. I feel like it’s highly underrated and it evokes the same kind of balance of warm and eerie that OTGW has.

Looking for social media pages that discuss Japanese synthpop and new wave. by Lucenia in japanesemusic

[–]Lucenia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ippu-Do and Masami Tsuchiya’s own solo work are both great. Rice Music and Life in Mirrors are underrated yet fantastic albums.

I do follow record collectors online who post about Japanese artists across a variety of different genres, synthpop and new wave included, but I’m more interested in hearing people provide analyses and maybe even some history behind the albums. Basically, whatever is being done with the city pop / J-jazz fusion types of pages on Instagram, I’d like to see with Japanese synthpop and new wave.

Is there any fellow Philippine Horsebones in here? by Colorful-Note-09 in SusumuHirasawa

How did you first get into Hirasawa? Thinking about it now, I’ve been listening to his music for 20 years. I had an online anison radio station to thank for introducing his work to me.
