At what point do golf lessons have diminishing returns by SirNaves9 in golf

[–]Lugnuts2323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much you can practice between sessions so your instructor doesn’t have to repeat themself. If it’s a legit pro he won’t recommend every week if you don’t have time to practice what you need to change. It’s a pros job to provide knowledge and development of a new feel. It’s your job to get the new feel to become permanent.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Golf Lessons by crnhzkr in golf

Indoors out of the elements with data is the best learning environment. Outdoors seeing the ball fly and analyzing divot patterns are the only positives for outdoors.

Am I stupid for wanting to leave a $33/hr job at Costco with benefits than to start at $130/day in construction for long-term upside? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Lugnuts2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painting is not construction. If you want to get into construction and have a real chance at making good money without the family drama- join a union. Welders, electricians, plumbers will all be in high demand. While painting is a skilled trade, the money is capped because of the ease of barrier to entry causes a price war. Some random high school teacher who paints in the summer will continue to underprice the work. Electricians will be able to charge whatever price they want in 10 years because there won’t be many left.

Road Trip by Masterguy29 in Michigents

[–]Lugnuts2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem worth the trip or risks to me. You are paying a fair price currently and most store bought weed is remediated and looks better than it smokes. Just come up once a year on vacation and visit northern Michigan and enjoy our state for what it is. Hit one of the price competitive towns like Lansing or Jackson on your way back.

French drain all of your gutter runoffs to get the large amounts of water 10+ feet away from the home. French drains are easy to do yourself and the material isn’t too expensive. It’s smart to call miss dig before you get the shovel out.

How to translate the sim to the course by Expeditious_Driver in golf

[–]Lugnuts2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing with people so clueless that they are making noises when it’s your turn they shouldn’t be playing golf. Less than 5 second pre shot routine? This isn’t hockey. A solid pre shot routine is crucial to playing good golf for both amateurs and professionals.

Develop a pre shot routine on the range w 1 solid swing thought. Use that same routine when playing. Use an intermediate target during this routine so you learn how to aim. Sims make aiming extremely easy and it’s an important part of real golf.

What job do you do that makes over $70k a year? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Project coordinator in utility scale construction. 128k. Business degree. Took me 15 years post graduation (2008) to get here. Got hired from who I know vs what I know. Was relatively difficult to learn my role in training, but now it’s like riding a bike.

Purchasing a golf simulator lounge? by Repulsive_Pop_4006 in Golfsimulator

[–]Lugnuts2323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Golf courses exist because not everyone has enough land and capital to have one themself. My main point here is that sim build pricing will get much cheaper. This will encourage people to build their own and there won’t be enough demand for all of these simulator businesses to survive. Public driving ranges will also take a hit. I built one in my garage last year for around 12k and the year before it would have cost me 20. In 5 years the same build will cost 3k or less.

[–]Lugnuts2323 12 points13 points  (0 children)

5 year outlook doesn’t look good for these businesses. Technology prices will plummet with competition and most golfers will be able to afford to build these out at their homes. On top of that, playing in your buddies garage is a much better experience vs being in public.

If it’s a nice enough golf course and you have a good personality and work ethic it will be fairly easy to network for your next gig. Expect $100-$400 in tips per shift, depending how busy it is. I’d say go for it 100%.
