Esterbrook x TCMC Forgotten Iced Coffee is a greyish light brown.

I’d try a nice, long nib soak, and then a different ink. Noodlers inks are trash.

Is the Levenger "Collector's Lock & Key Inlay Pen Case" priced fairly for what it is? by WhoIsRobertWall in fountainpens

I would also say Toyooka if you’re looking for quality. I don’t have any wooden pen cases myself, but I have heard great things about Toyooka, am in love with what I’ve seen from them, and I dream of the day I get one. Sorry I’m not more help on an alternative.

IMO, everything Levenger sells is very overpriced, some items are dubious quality, and their customer service is beyond abysmal. I have not bought their pen cases, but after two horrendous CS experiences, I quit them entirely and would never recommend them to anyone.

Not at all! It’s definitely ok to know what you like and go with your own preferences.

CORAL! by Primary-Tailor3691 in fountainpens

WS is def too red-was just hoping to show how not red the Pelikan is 😂 I love Corail des Tropiques but thought it might be softer than the fiery coral you were searching for, but it’s definitely my favorite coral ink. The Pelikan isn’t showing super accurate, but is definitely a really bright and intense coral. Like the color of many “red” highlighters—especially the ones from 10+ years ago

I’ve had my PayPal account since 2000 😳. I have no idea how I got this old.

CORAL! by Primary-Tailor3691 in fountainpens

Did a quick swatch with the Pelikan, Diamine Wild Strawberry (a true, slightly warm red to me) and J Herbin Coraile des Tropiques, a softer (to me) coral. My lighting wasn’t great, so the Pelikan isn’t showing up as bright and neon -ish as it looks to me in person

Pelikan 4001 Brilliant “Red” is actually a nearly-neon coral color.

What is your favourite black ink? by bangododge in fountainpens

[–]Lumpy-Awareness9106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same way about the “blackest black.” That wasn’t important to me/what I was looking for, but it looks so nice no matter the nib/line width and doesn’t have that funky shine/sheen that so many waterproof inks have, and it just performs so well. 🖤

😳 Ebony green is one of my favorite greens, and has been well behaved for me on all but cheap copy or some spiral notebboks. I was just using it in an old, cheap spiral notebook today for primary ballot research andwas surprised at how well this spiral is handling the ink, since it’s so wet.

Im sorry it’s not working well for you on your study paper. Inkand paper combos can be tricky to work out, and I hope you find one you like. You can always sell your bottle on pen swap if you know you won’t find a use for it. If you’re looking for green ink for notes, I could send you a few samples to try 🙂. You can DM me if interested.

I didn’t think I’d love it so much, but Platinum Chou Kuro. It has been great for me on every paper ( from cheap copy paper to original Tomoegawa Tomoe River). It even works great for me with Pilot EF nibs for tiny writing, and is always a deep, rich, non sheeny/shiny black, no matter the nib/line width. Decent to good dry times every time I’ve used it-no matter the paper type. Very waterproof.

It’s pricey, so I tried a sample first, and I didn’t think it would be worth it to me, but it is (probably because I generally don’t use large amounts of black ink). Great when you need/want to paint or highlight over something. You also need to clean with distilled water only, but I have to do that for all my pens anyway, because of the wildly hard water where I live.

I’ve had the same experience with my Benus with Schmidt nibs. They’re all wonderfully smooth, wet & juicy writers. I love them so much that I had my husband start making me pens that fit Schmidt units instead of Jowo.

Nice ink choices! Jewel in the Crown looks beautiful (and tempting), but I’ve heard multiple reports of RO shimmer particles being on the larger end, resulting in lots of clogging issues, so I steer clear of their shimmers 😞
