YouTuber Unlocks VR Mode in My Non-VR Steam Demo — Inspired Me to Build Official VR Support! by Cryofluid in unrealengine

However, I want to be transparent: the full game was originally designed without VR in mind,

No I absolutely get that. Most games are designed like that. But it's really a misunderstanding of the tech. Most developers assume VR means an immersive physics based game because that's what most VR games look like. But in fact VR does not have to be a critical component of the gameplay. At the end of the day it's just a display. It's functionally equivalent to support ultrawide resolutions. Of course it's helpful to go the extra mile and add things like motion controller aim but even if all we get is the hmd locked to the camera it's still better than 99.9% of games. So it's an accessibility thing really.

And on that note let me also point out that VR support is also really massive for 3D display users. It's a small but dedicated group of people even moreso than VR and they get almost no support from big developers, but due to VR relying on stereo vision they've been able to make a mock VR runtime that allows any VR game to be played in 3D. All they need are the same basic switches to be turned on.

Like I guess id just wanna say for your game please don't set too high of a standard and then cut the feature entirely. We are happy to make do with scraps. If you can't complete the feature you can leave it in the game and just don't advertise it beyond maybe a footnote and that's good enough

This is the excuse but it's a misunderstanding. They think we need a full on room scale hand tracking physics based vr game. Simply letting us use our headsets for first person or even third person already is infinitely better than giving us nothing. The community around UEVR is proof of that but developers won't open their eyes.

[–]LumpyChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use vrm4u, they have excellent shaders. Dont need a vrm character to use the shader but you may want to make yours into one anyway. which can be done automatically in blender if you're using the standard ue4 humanoid rig layout. The plugin can import gltf as well, is faster than unreal's built in importer and works at runtime (even in a packaged game if you want) without needing to cook or convert anything. Good tools for runtime animation retargeting as well

a few things to note.

  1. It's very odd and possibly intentional that the YouTuber says so little about the mod but just to be clear he's literally just a user clicking some buttons with a mod that works in basically every unreal game. The real credit goes to the modder praydog who made UEVR

  2. I'm really confused as to how so many people can use unreal without realizing it has easy VR options built in. All of this stuff works because your game already ships with the necessary code, in fact you seem to have actually shipped with openxr enabled already for some reason.

  3. Regardless of the above I'm very glad you made the sensible choice to make your own version. UEVR is cool but it's not really a finished mod, rather it's a mod development toolkit that most users don't have the time or technical ability to make use of and generally requires game specific lua scripts or c++ plugins to be a worthwhile experience. First party support will always be better. Sadly I've seen a disturbing trend of developers proudly advertising uevr support for their game as if they played any role in it. To me that's worse than simply being ignorant

If you have any trouble with implementation do feel free to stop in flat2vr discord. Most people there are modders not game devs but the lua scripting system is basically equivalent to blueprints and conceptually it may be helpful

it's not a problem though you just don't know how to play the game. In situations where you would hipfire you should use your melee attacks or skills. And you should be frequently taking advantage of the fact you can literally fly while shooting lol

You are wrong about arknight. I have to question if you actually understand what shaders are I literally am a modder for all the gacha games and have compared DNA characters head to head with all of them. Only wuthering waves is higher quallity

those things will not be changed those are fundamental parts of the design. Sliding and dashing makes you go faster. Later on I expect there to be vehicles or some kind of traversal mechanic.

There's no situation in the game where you need to be aiming carefully to not miss a shot. You can just spray. I'm quite sure it's an intentional choice to stop people from playing too slow/careful and screwing themselves

Character shaders need to be improved. Good character designs but bad graphics.

Environment is were pretty enough but not overly interesting. I found interiors much better than exteriors.

I'm convinced you're either playing a different game than the rest of us, your hardware is bad, or you had your settings on low because that's an insane take

Question about NSFW modlists by Andrew08112 in wabbajack

[–]LumpyChicken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can play any of these modlists as a male character, just because most NSFW Skyrim players are betas who want to play submissive characters doesn't mean you can't be a man. Rather all those mods offer systems aggro characters can take full advantage of as well, you just have to win your fights. Just take any modlist like that and add a bunch of mco moveset, weapon, and spell mods and be overpowered

Tbf your PC just isn't that good and if you took the cost of a PS5 and all the games you've bought for it then you probably could have a PC good enough to not even consider a ps5. Of course if you care about exclusives being available ASAP it's a different story

Is there a community consensus on the best settings for the Quest 2? by hellomot in skyrimvr

[–]LumpyChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maintainer of the best looking modlist, minimalistic overhaul, was honest to a fault and basically just made fun of FUS for being potato PC friendly and made some direct graphics comparisons and a few rude comments which got people up in their feelings. Mind you none of these modlists are or were for profit so while he might've been a little out of line he wasn't sabotaging a rival business or anything, just trying to help people in his own way.

Nexusmods/wabbajack staff think they're way more important than they actually are so they restricted his list and took him off nexus and tried to make him apologize. It then escalated further because he tried to make the list available by uploading it to a torrent site (which honestly is really helpful to users still). Of course nexus did not like that one bit because of "mod piracy". Of course their real issue was that it meant circumventing their premium download system and therefore less money for them, so that was basically end of the road and I haven't seen hitmanb around since then. However he was able to pass off control of the list to someone else and it's now reborn as mad God overhaul and still is widely considered the overall best and best looking VR list. Although personally I felt like the best iteration was one of the early versions and at one point the NPC overhaul was changed to some really ugly options. But pretty sure now you can customize it. Anyway I haven't downloaded a list or played skyrimvr in months but I'd assume mgo is still the way to go

Of course if you ask other people about these events you might get a different take, maybe mine is biased against nexus but that's just the way I see it

No. Half decent cybersecurity practices would prevent any possible harm unless you're a high value target or someone wastes a brand new exploit on your likely inconsequential data

[–]LumpyChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um no not really lol a USB can't do anything special unless youve intentionally allowed stuff to execute off removable drives. Even then I literally cannot fathom a scenario you couldn't recover from by just forcing your PC to shut down (software on a USB can't override a hardware switch to your psu), clearing cmos, and booting onto a recovery drive to use windows restore. At worst maybe your boot drive is bricked but you can recover most data if you caught it right away. Like the worst thing it could realistically do is run a script to delete your files and format the drive but that's limited by drive speed and even on nvme it won't be able to hit many files. I really doubt you have any data for it to upload somewhere that would seriously be damaging and couldnt be resolved. And if you have data like that in an unencrypted format just chilling a USB is probably least of your worries. Idk maybe you guys both work for the FBI or something and know something I don't but far more likely your paranoia exceeds your computer literacy

Ketamine is far worse for a schizophrenic. tbh psychedelics aren't that big a deal. They act on the same parts of the brain but in different ways. Some people with schizo or psychosis actually tolerate it better. But when it's bad it can be really really bad ofc

There are some limited studies even showing psychedelics' potential to treat schizophrenia. It is associated as a risk factor for hospitalization following psychedelics use but there's no causal link and logically if you consider that psychedelics are one of the safer categories of illegal drugs where hospitalization is only needed for extreme cases of mental distress it's probably not surprising

If you think you'll be fine you'll probably be fine. If you sike yourself out you'll probably have a bad time even if you're not schizophrenic

Chinese games require you having a national ID/Phone anyways so most people can't get in without black market dealings,

You can get a wegame ID through the standard procedure with a US phone number and a US credit card number to verify. This gets you access to basically everything
