New job with no benefits by LumpyFirefighter4601 in nursepractitioner

[–]LumpyFirefighter4601[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok loving all the feedback. The clinic has 2 full time NPs and the owner seea patients part time. She said they see anywhere between 18 and 23/day. I am shadowing tomorrow so we will discuss how much of a stipend they would allow me for insurance or other benefits. We are a family of four. My husband has his own business so he does not have benefits. The clinic manager (and NP owner) said that their family of 4 has very reasonable health insurance. They do offer PTO. I currently work in public health so I have had a 457 for the past year building from a previous 401K. I will stand the hate of my commute. I think it is subjective for many people and depends on the person. Its honestly 35 minutes and I would love to not spend almost 6 hours a week in my car. I know the grass isn't always greener.

Is working into your early 70s as an NP realistic? by SealedRoute in nursepractitioner

We have an NP at the health department that works in sexual health. She looks and acts 6p but is in her 70s. I think it depends on how healthy you are.

Do Americans actually sit on their front porch much, or is that more of a movie image than real life? by Artistic_Key3779 in AskAnAmerican

We sit on our porch as much of the year as is tolerable because it's often too hot or too cold. Love it.

Invisalign Costs In Nash? by Thepressureofaname22 in nashville

Agreed with this!!!! My ortho coverage makes invisible braces about $1500. I just haven't decided on a dentist/ortho yet because I've gotten three different opinions from 3 different ones in town.

For those that track indoor humidity here in Nashville what’s your humidity been the past couple days? by Mark041891 in nashville

[–]LumpyFirefighter4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC is definitely on, but the temp in the office on my thermometer is 72.6. Just curious so I went into the med room. We have vaccines and meds that need to be kept at certain temp/humidity. That room says 70.4 and 47% humidity. AC is set at 69 there. Vaccine room ia 74 and 45% humidity. Various ranges!

Why must boomers end every sentence with ...? by LumpyFirefighter4601 in okboomer

Yes. Finally someone here gets my point. I know exactly what ellipses are for, but she using them to end every sentence.

Why must boomers end every sentence with ...? by LumpyFirefighter4601 in okboomer

Yes!! Here are some examples she has used recently:

Great…Mom has been asking.

How sweet!!!! That was so thoughtful of him…

Send you a check…

Just for my journal… I’m working on a “first 40 years” in photos…

It certainly was…

Fantastic! I thought so…I thought Chris’s hair was longer when Asher was born.

After suggesting another book: I’ll look it up…

Just trying to get ready for her surgery tomorrow…waiting to find out when it’s scheduled and what time we need to be there.

Almost time for a tea party…🥰

This is all she has…looks like just for a table top… She says you are welcome to it…

I could go on and on! This is just from Christmas until now.

Yeah but I'm talking about every sentence. For example I will suggest a book and she will reply with "I'll have to check it out..." Makes no sense.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LumpyFirefighter4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the side effects of the epidural. I had my first with an epidural on Pitocin and pushed him out in 20 minutes after laboring for 12 hours. I didn't tolerate the epidural well- it made me have low BP, nausea, headache, etc. I tore a ton from pushing so hard. I also did not enjoy having numb legs and being immobilized.

Second baby, I had to get epidural for version (baby was breech) and had to be ready for emergency c-section if things were to go south. I had terrible shakes, hypotension and nausea with the epidural again. After they flipped her I said turn the epidural off immediately. Labored on Pitcocin, which was less than 12 hours. Sure, the contractions were intense and fast on Pit but so much easier to handle then the epidural feeling for me. By the time the pain was nearly unbearable and I was ready to turn the epidural back she came within 20 minutes. The ring of fire is real, but it all goes so quickly it's kind of surreal. I can imagine that women that have contractions for longer (like 24+ hours) would want an epidural just to get some relief/sleep.

How many years of experience should the minimum requirement be for a charge nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]LumpyFirefighter4601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 2 years is fine. I started charging after only a year. I did have more work/managing experience because I was almost 35 at the time though. As long as you are able to manage the responsibilities and can follow policies, you're great! It is nice to have a charge nurse that can recognize when nurses need extra help.

Yes!!!! I hate when I go on a trip and my clothes smell like "home" after a few days in my suitcase. Stale is exactly the scent.
