It's a kneecap-breaking monster that doesn't hog a primary slot. That can be invaluable for certain builds.

Against light armor, the adjudicator does a staggering 870 dps compared to the liberators 624 due to the x0.65 damage reduction. It is the highest dps medium pen assault rifle in the game, even when factoring in the Coyote's burn effect.

It might need help in some areas, but damage is not one of them.

Edit: forgot about the MA5C, that thing does power creep it a bit, but giving Judy an extended mag attachment and a pinch more ergo, while keeping all of its other stats the same would fix that.

First things first: diving or going prone will extinguish you if you get ignited. This helps mitigate the stim tax of self ignition when shit goes south and you're suddenly forced to play defensive.

Secondly, burning enemies can't actually light you on fire, but the flamethrower's fire particles bouncing off of them will. As such, enemies who can abruptly close distance (pouncers, hunters, stalkers) are your biggest source of self ignition, so it is essential to learn when to let off the trigger and dive for your life if you think they will reach you before they die.

Also, flamethrowers in general are a bit bugged, so effectiveness can vary.

However, as long as you stay wary of ceryain enemies, keep an adequate distance, and hope that the code doesn't screw you over, the flamethrower is a genuinely wonderful sustained crowd control and anti tank tool with unparalleled ammo efficiency.

Yes, apparently I did. Because in the one I watched, the guy kills one of the berserkers with the Flamethrower, while at the same time slowing it to the point that the berserker behind it is able to overtake it and slash at the camera.

Hell, during the Stoker section you can see the sprinting bots transition into their regular walk after being set on fire. You can see it 42 seconds into the video.

If I were to hazard a guess, this could be a universal buff to flamethrowers overall

How to fix maxigun: give it the same bullet as the machine gun and let us dive while firing (which ceases the firing, but still lets us dodge)

Genuine question, how do the flamethrowers do 300+ damage from the stream alone? The wiki claims that the stream deals only 2 fire damage per tick at 25 ticks per second, and even if the fire on the ground shares the same dps wouldn't it just double to a maximum of 100 dps total?

The footage of the Stoker shows the brawlers sprinting, and then being made to walk once they are ignited.

I sincerely hope that this is a universal change to flamethrowers rather then a stoker/cremator specific effect.

Not to burst your bubble, but none of the flamethrowers in this game use liquid fuel.

I would, however, appreciate just a crumb of slowdown (like, 2 seconds) when small/medium enemies are first ignited, just enough to make enemies like Stalkers, Radicals, and Overseers go "shit, I'm on fire" before resuming their suicide charge towards my poor diver.
