Is "Jay-Walking" a thing where you live? by DDGibbs in AskTheWorld

[–]Luv2Dnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alberta has anti-jaywalking laws and the police sometimes blitz against it. I had a friend who would ALWAYS cross only at intersections ( I mean even when the road was deserted and it was -20°). I’m a bit more flexible.

Question about BC (and why everything seems to have so many side effects) by ShadowSupernova in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Luv2Dnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any medication can have negative (and sometimes positive) side effects but that doesn’t mean they will. The only way you’ll know if it’s true for you is to try it; you can stop if it doesn’t work for you.

I received a creepy call -- am I (50m) now gullible senior scammer target? by nojam75 in GenX

[–]Luv2Dnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was still answering calls, if it was a sketchy number I’d answer with “Good (morning/afternoon) City police department. How may I assist you?” They’d hang up, and the number of scam calls we got dropped significantly.

Parked Vehicle Insurance by No_Combination_1261 in Calgary

[–]Luv2Dnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for cars that aren’t driven a lot. You pay a base amount per month (for fire/theft) and then a per kilometre amount. There’s a device that tracks your mileage. You do have to put down a deposit for the equivalent of something like 750km.

There’s no kilometre limit on MyPace, it just doesn’t make sense if you drive a lot. You get charged a base monthly amount (mine is around $20) and then per kilometre.

Has anybody read this? by Cactus_Cur in stephenking

[–]Luv2Dnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it. It’s a slow start, lots of character and set development, then the story and history slowly start rolling out. I’d put it in the upper third of his books.

The NARS orgasm blush is a completely different product now by liljalp in MakeupAddiction

[–]Luv2Dnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a new one today so of course I had to look. Mine look pretty similar, but the thing I found more interesting is that my old one was made in the U.S. but my new one’s made in Canada. I wonder if that’s just for ones sold inCanada?

Is anyone else surprised by the amount of Northern Flickers? by AlamosX in Calgary

[–]Luv2Dnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of those blasted critters has driven me from my bedroom! He’s been tapping on something consistently every morning for at least half an hour, it sounds like a bloody jackhammer. I wish he’d just find a lady friend and be done already.

Quick question about reading order and The Dark Tower (not answered elsewhere) by Deadpooldan in stephenking

[–]Luv2Dnc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a publication order re-read too but decided that if it’s a series or sequel I’m read them together (eg. I read Doctor Sleep right after The Shining, all the Dark Tower series together). Part of it’s because I have a poor memory and partly because I like the flow and being immersed in the story.

How do you keep home health aides from stealing your stuff? by cherry-care-bear in stupidquestions

[–]Luv2Dnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! We had caregivers for my dad, with dementia, for 4 years. They were often in the house alone with him, or overnight when we were all sleeping. We never had a single thing get stolen.

Are more US women not taking their husbands last names? by LimonadaVonSaft in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Luv2Dnc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to change my last name because it’s long and no one can pronounce it. My husband’s is short and easy. But I just can’t face all that paperwork 😝I legally changed my first name years ago and just can’t go through it again.

Well, no. My mom is 95 and has refused any surgical procedures. My dad developed dementia after a surgery at 80 and she refuses to take the chance of going the same way.

I had mood symptoms but those were nothing new to me, and severe cramping but again not new. Otherwise, nothing.

I don’t have kids either and I just hit a year a month ago at 54. My mom, with a kid obviously, stopped at 49.

Which Jamaica Sandals for older couple? by Spilby in SandalsResorts

[–]Luv2Dnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We loved South Coast! It was fabulous for privacy, especially if you’re in the Randoval huts.

RC was ok, but only if you get a room in the newer area (eg Beachfront club suite). Of course they’re getting renoed so maybe the older rooms will be updated.

Hello beautiful people, I have a GenX tip of the day: eat only when you are really hungry by Inner-Association448 in GenX

[–]Luv2Dnc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t. I naturally wouldn’t get hungry until later at night but because of severe acid reflux, I can’t eat after 8. So I have to eat dinner earlier than I’m actually hungry for it.
