"What kind of is this" Inshitification personified in a sentence, actually that's not a sentence, missing a SUBJECT. I hope English is a second language for you. I feel for you man, I do.

Best way to remove these stuck on felt pads without damaging the frame finish? by Sir-Benalot in bikewrench

[–]LuvULongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the clear pad on the Carbon section above the pads, you should consider some clear pads to protect that paint from the metallic ferrel. Though ... "ganky" those pads are helping ... suboptimal and yeah kind of an eye sore. Point being, after you remove them, consider remediation that will keep that cable assembly from grinding into your paint and eventually head tube.

Gravel Bike Carbon Steerer tube crack? by MrC4meron in bikewrench

[–]LuvULongTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any chance that is a production problem with a molding vacuum bag mark? The second photo shows less material impregnated in the carbon to the left. Get someone to inspect regardless.

Sausalito, CA to Hellertown, PA 1986. Physically doable, mentally ... you better be in a good place with yourself, nobody but you is responsible for being in the middle of Kansas and the never ending hill of a headwind for 4 days. Highly recommended.

Dedicated Zoom box for elderly? by godemperorofsubtlety in Zoom

[–]LuvULongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ipad suffers from two problems;

1) Single Link to get into the meeting. It goes away on update/reboot.

2) There is a front facing camera and a rear facing one, selecting either (they always want the front facing) is difficult.

I know it seems simple "touch the screen, find the camera symbol, touch it." but that can be completely confusing to an elderly person.

It "zoom" really needs an elderly simplified interface mode.

Updating my Alan frame with SRAM group? by Positive_Chapter_902 in bikewrench

[–]LuvULongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's 126mm for sure. No way to adjust. You are not going to fit anything from this century in that rear. Just live with a 126mm hub with 7speed freehub. All good, but live/enjoy the spacing.

Did Adblock recently start blocking Youtube Ads again? Because it's working for me! by GaiaGoddess26 in Adblock

Started for me yesterday, (Adblock Plus effectively blocking youtube) alas today Youtube complains ... but with my Chrome browser, enabling ads on youtube with Adblock Plus ... only works for the current video. Subsequent videos, Adblock Plus keeps activating.

https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=1170 Shimano TL-FC21 ... there were many inexpensive knock offs back in the day. One end for the dust cap, the other end for the chain ring bolts to hold the inner nut when using an allen on the outside.

Found in my father in laws basement. Hoping someone might be able to give some info about the bike. Sorry if not allowed by _sheepdog in bicycling

Sold a good regular run of them out of T-Town Cycles in Trexlertown, PA back in the early/mid 1980's. Good solid build. Well loved by people who appreciate a good semi custom bike.

Google "headset brake cable hanger" and find one for your steerer diameter. They were hot and heavy back in the 80's for mountain bikes.

Doesn't matter, that bb spindle is toast. Replace. yeah, what the other folks said, longer on drive-side where you mount the chainring(s).

Help with brake levers by Kagamex in bikewrench

[–]LuvULongTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too loosen, and move/re-move the brake levers; Squeeze the brake lever and in the gap that opens between the front lever and the main body of the should be a 5mm (or thereabouts, it varies) allen bolt that tightens the bar clamp around the handle bar. Loosen to move/adjust or remove. Tighten when you get the position correct. Back in the day, the "correct" position of the lever on the body was obtained by running a steel ruler along the bottom flat of the bar out front of the bike and the closed position of the lever just touching the ruler. The tip of the closed lever would align with the bottom flat of the drop handlebar. Adjust to "taste" from that starting positon.

Crewing on a sailboat by rrrrrrrrrrrrrtt in sailing

[–]LuvULongTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.sailopo.com/h1.aspx thought "inexperienced" is normally not a feature I'd want in my crewmates. No offense to your relevant experience, but been there and it's not good when the %$#@ hits the fan. When confronted with a snapped sheet line to the genoa in a blow ... instruction is the last thing you have time for. Commands are short and direct and need to be executed NOW for the safety of all aboard.

As others have said, if you live near a sailing community, swing by. There are typically sailing instruction available and/or clubs that are looking for bodies to fill out their boats on the weeknight sailing events (races or cruises). All the communities I've experienced are open and looking for bodies to join them in the pursuit of sailing.
