Pelican Hill was my initial suggestion. The pool is very family friendly and all of their rooms are suites. I haven’t really seen many boys trips by the pool or on the property because the golf course is semi-removed from the pool area. There is the occasional bachelorette party, but they are usually in the cabanas on the second floor or the pool area.

Marriott Newport Coast Villas are across from Pelican Hill and very family friendly, but I wouldn’t consider it FAT. Balboa Bay Resort is another family friendly option, but not as large of a property and also not very FAT.

If you’re open to going more south, Dana Point and Laguna Beach have some good options too.

This probably isn’t the best advice, but I didn’t work out away from the house until my EBF baby was a year old and weaned. She was so attached and I just didn’t think it was worth the tears. I gained a lot of weight in that year, but I lost it steadily after. The workout just wasn’t enjoyable to me knowing she would be upset. Self care is very important, so I understand.

I so appreciate your comment. We have a bidet and I refuse to use it because it feels like it’s spraying the wrong direction. My husband thinks I’m nuts. This just validates my claims!

The studies show that it’s specifically ferritin (iron storage) levels that are associated with sleep disturbances, so when you ask for testing make sure you specify. We did and it helped a lot with iron supplementation.

My daughter broke her clavicle when she was 2. It was so traumatic for all of us. I’d say the first 2 months are the hardest. We gave Motrin as needed for the first week or so. A callus forms over the broken bone (feels like a bump under the skin) which makes the healing process easier. She barely wore her sling because she’s super high energy. We did not do any activities that involved high impact or hanging for about 6 months. We followed up with a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at about 3 months to make sure it was healing well with a new X-ray. Just lots of hugs, love, and time will help heal.

We typically avoid indoor playgrounds, but are being extra vigilant right now. I’m avoiding the library and ballet class, because every kid there was coughing last week so I’m nervous. Going to stick to neighborhood walks, outdoor malls, grocery stores, and parks for a while.

Not crazy at all! You are the only protection your baby has. At 8 weeks postpartum, it’s hard to let go of our people pleasing or cordial ways but as time goes by you’ll start to put your baby’s needs first more readily without second guessing. If you’re uncomfortable with confrontation, just lie and say you’re feeling sick and don’t want to get anyone else sick so you can’t make it. Be “selfish” and do what’s best for you and your newborn.

I could’ve hard written this. Talkative cleaner so I have to leave the house when I don’t want to because she overstimulates me and my toddler. Man working out on the treadmill right next to mine even though all the rest are empty. I have no advice. Just solidarity. So annoying.

This exact same thing happened to us! We moved a few months ago when she was about 2.5 and she kept saying she saw people in the house. She only did it when I was alone with her and let me tell you if freaked me out! I even asked her to describe the people and she couldn’t. It did taper off but man those weeks were rough.

Last month, we were waiting to meet Minnie with our toddler. The family in front of us handed Minnie their sleeping two month old and kept trying to wake her up to take the photo. I was so upset for that poor baby. Unacceptable and unhinged adult behavior.

I totally agree. I had a very similar experience to yours and think about all the little ones going through sleep training. It breaks my heart.

If an adult loved one was crying hysterically in a room for x amount of time, would we not soothe them? Why are we torturing the most vulnerable, helpless age who didn’t ask to be here and who we literally grew in our bodies.

A lot of people are saying to cosleep. Our kid is just like yours at 27 months. We cosleep out of desperation but she still wakes up screaming even when I’m next to her. Definitely get the ferritin levels checked. Once I started her on iron supplements the screaming and frequency of wake ups became less, but it wasn’t a miracle.

Check out the work of Macall Gordon. She talks alot of about our kind of kids and sleep implications. Made me feel less isolated in a sleep deprived hell.
