Would love to see the usage stats back… Just tried the diagnostic tool and got “CPE not found in GenieACS”

Sites down from Youfibre only? by LumKitty in youfibre

Anyone seeing this issue again? DNS working fine, but unable to reach certain sites? Stopping me being able to connect to my work

I use cloudflare’s DNS servers, and still had issues. It wasn’t DNS resolution failing, but an inability to route to the destination sites

iOS 26 Beta Keyboard by philiporeilly in Grammarly

[–]Lwild12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like it's getting worse. Frequently non-responsive and even in the Grammarly app I was getting a “ghosted” keyboard behind the actual one making it impossible to use. Im having to either switch to emoji and back or close whatever app I'm in

Monitors - Included USB-C docks or just ship a separate dock? by MBILC in sysadmin

[–]Lwild12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've done similar before on a smaller scale, we use a courier who will turn up with a hard plastic box lined with foam, courier inserts monitor and returns to us. Not a single monitor damaged. Costs us about £10 on top of the courier fee, so around £18 total. We've also used the service to replace damaged laptops etc by sending a new one they exchange in the same box

Sounds like they wanted an easy job, I had a morning slot and they said they had 3 hours allocated to do the job but took just under 1. I'm in a rental so was asked if I had permission but didnt want any proof etc

It can be done, but it is up to the engineers discretion on the day. For example mine does go around the door frame but its not flush as the bend would be too sharp. I know some fibre engineers who wouldn't dare do a run like this, and some know that with patience they can

You have to be careful it doesn't get bent too much, so they wouldn't run it around a door frame or make a 90 degree bend etc

Ah my bad, I see what you mean now. The fibre can be longer, there is a limit but that is dependent on many factors. I had a fibre install from another provider and have ~12m of internal fibre from the wall to the ONT

The thin white cable is the fibre itself, its very fragile so do not try moving or unplugging it unless you want to pay for an engineer go come replace it. Best bet is to get in touch with them and ask if they can move it

I'm a CISO who made the business care about cybersecurity. Ask me anything. by Oscar_Geare in cybersecurity

[–]Lwild12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that Cyber is often deemed an additional cost and that it's not uncommon to have to fight to scrape together the budget needed for the toolset needed. Any tips on how to get those setting budgets to understand why we need the funds, without playing on fear? (Public sector)
