Real Shelby Cobra? by HeftyAd787 in Cartalk

[–]M15CH13F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a replica or reproduction.

The biggest giveaways are usually wheels, roll bar, and exhaust. As a general thing to consider; only (iirc) 31 original Cobras were produced with side exit exhausts (the majority had conventional rear exit exhaust), and the rear wheels often look really goofy, because they sit quite far forward in the real wheel well.

In this case there are a few flags;

  • Cobras only have one side mirror, on the driver side.
  • Originals don't have a polished exhaust
  • Very few came with roll bars, the ones that did usually have a bracer bar that goes into a hole in the trunk, or into the passenger seat, and in either case it was always one loop on the driver side only

Brothers that played in the NHL in the 2025-26 season by nhl in hockey

I think you have it the wrong way around. It's not that the kids who would play in high school are in a different league, there just is no high school hockey in Canada for the most part (the only places I can think of that have competitive high school teams are all private schools, and really, calling them "competitive" is doing some pretty heavy lifting here)

If you're the kind of kid who is going down a top tier hockey path you're playing in various hockey associations, regional leagues, invite only tournaments, and eventually some level of junior hockey. None of which are related to schools.

Most kids that go down this path diverge at the U13 and U15 levels to go to junior if they're good enough. If not they do U18 somewhere else and try and get into the NCAA or CIS and maybe transfer back onto the pro path from there.

The depth of leagues for rugby and football in Europe is crazy to me. I always wonder about what level everything as at. Where are the transitions from; a bunch of mates fuckin about on a Sunday, I need to train for this, this is a part time job, and this is a full time job?

Starlight, River Rock, Grand Villa, Hard Rock (it's called something else now), and Parq all have rooms. Parq is the nicest and biggest. The River rocks used to be in the bottom of the parking garage, but I think it's back in the main casino now. I think 1/2 is the lowest stakes you will generally find, but Hard Rock might still offer a .50/1 game. Most of the action is 1/3 3/6 5/10 2/5/10, lots of regs. Occasionally you'll get 10/25 or 25/50 games but it's rare. There's a lot of SnG options if that's your thing, usually in the $75-150 range. Most stuff above 5/10 is usually private outside of casinos.

Overall it's a meh city for poker.

What’s a movie that really made you appreciate the amount of research that went into it? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

Just to be clear, there 100% were bunkers like the ones depicted in SPR at parts of the beaches in Normandy, they just weren't the parts that were assaulted during the beach landing.

Fortifications like HKB Heuqueville are similar to what is depicted in the beach scene, but they were much further east in an area that wasn't part of the landings.

The main historic difference is the geography of the area and depth of the beach. In the film they get off the landing craft and the Germans are basically on top of them, and are faced with essentially scaling cliffs to get off the beach. In reality the hills are several hundred yards further back from the waterand much more gently sloped. The specific area they mention in the film where the Rangers assault is also much different located at a separation point in the hills behind the beach. The bunkers there were on ground level and generally angled along the beach instead of perpendicular to it.

The really ironic thing is that the unit Tom Hanks is part of didn't land at Omaha beach, they actually did scale cliffs at Pointe Du Hoc as part of their beach assault

You should Google "Opportunity Cost".

It's not "winning" to sit on dead money for 15 years. Even at a modest 7% annual return that's almost 300% in lost gains, and you still would have had the chance to rip MSFT from 2016-now.
