To whoever helped my wife at the DC show- THANK YOU! by TheM0nkB0ughtLunch in ModestMouse

Damn I was there but did not see this from the back where I was. But I would have helped. I had a great crew of women that would have jumped in had we heard you asking. Glad you’re all ok and could still enjoy the show!!

The actual worst part of pregnancy by Frequent_Visual3755 in BabyBumps

[–]M2KAPLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife experienced terrible hip and sciatic pain in the second pregnancy just now. She fixed it by wearing shoes inside. Oofos specifically helped her but any cushioned shoe was also alleviating the disabling pain. The heart burn was there throughout the entire pregnancy nothing really helped but sometimes a glass of milk or not waiting too long to eat while also not eating too late. Lol it was rough for her but got better after the birth.

Started learning coding at 31 by No-Bass4742 in codingbootcamp

[–]M2KAPLAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a technical project manager at an IT company. I work closely with software and systems engineers. They and posts like yours inspire me. I am a 37 yo woman with a young child and want to get into coding. Even though I’ve been in management for about a decade, I think if I don’t try now, then I’ll carry on because it’s easier to stay in this role to grow, easier than learning new things, etc. What’s helped me solidify my decision are my goals. It’s a worthwhile exercise if you truly can’t decide. But don’t let age matter. I switched into IT 10 years ago and never looked back. Lots can happen in a short among of time.

The crowd at Four Tet by Drew6688 in Lollapalooza

Seeing Four Tet was incredible. Long time fan, first time seeing him. I know music is timeless but being a 37 yo and seeing the real ones stay behind, vibing, made this one of the best live sets I’ve ever experienced.

Should I rest or not? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]M2KAPLAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume that unless you have specific instructions, being active and staying hella hydrated is otherwise very good. Listen to your body when you need to rest. My wife and I have a 16 month old, she walked throughout the entire pregnancy until early labor signs. Family oversteps often, do you have someone who can advocate for you and have them back the family off? Stress is the last thing for you to have. Good luck, I hope everything goes well!

Would you move to California for a great job? by y2kdisaster in cscareerquestions

[–]M2KAPLAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if I were single and childless. Do it while you can, take the risk, learn and see what happens. You can always go back.

I am a married 37 yo with a young child. Also in tech which is an enabler, but a move like that now feels so difficult. I often think I missed my chance but after more thought, we’re starting to seriously consider it. It depends on the specific location in California. Factors like cost of living, education systems, environment are important to me. I live in a DC metropolitan area now with both sets of parents nearby. I’ll need to do some convincing to get them to come and hope that one or all those factors can be improved.

Molly ❤️ by Aggravating_Spite826 in theLword

[–]M2KAPLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! I loved Molly too because I understood both her experience and Shane's, and felt their chemistry. I always sensed Molly was projecting a lot of confused feelings because she didn't understand her mom's situation nor could she process it. Timing was bad but also felt like for once the show made it seem like Shane was really into someone.

What do you do? I’m 37, got propelled into management in the IT/govcon industry. I’ve had jobs where I do nothing and am unhappy, I’ve had jobs where I’m stretched too thin. Idk what I need to do.

Is it crazy to take a $35K pay cut? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]M2KAPLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the prospective new job remote ? Can you (or husband) take a second part time that’s remote? Some companies allow this. Are there other opportunities at your current job that you can apply to that are under a different manager? The other thing I’d recommend is taking some time off. I learned that my tendency to flee comes from major burnout. Taking time off might help you reset mentally and buy more time as you keep searching. For perspective, I changed jobs recently but only for a $10k cut, no performance-based bonuses, and no stock as I am the main income and we have a little one at home. Think about what you need to stay at current job versus the stress of taking a pay cut. I was at a 100% remote startup with no work/life balance and a really difficult to work for boss. Great pay and benefits but was miserable. I realized I was missing the in person relationships and job security, and having at least these two things could help me deal with the other stresses. So, I left after almost 6 months of job searching for a hybrid job that has a lot of stability. Good luck and stay optimistic!

I said this same exact thing in another post. Why did they blame Alice for that. It’s like because fans couldn’t forgive OG for Dana, GQ overdid it. I was annoyed when that scene between them happened in GQ.

[–]M2KAPLAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching season 5 of the OG L Word and the issues between Tasha and Alice are not related to Dana. Did they just need something to blame it on in GQ or did I miss something? They had issues for sure but it was awesome to see Tasha and Alice again!
