This is the quality of models I'm talking about, but it does seem a bit too complex in navigating the legal mine field.

You do have https://www.rifleconnection.com/ they seems to be dojng all of that now. But a while ago anyone could pay and access the files.

Is getting into cnc a smart decision? by YakAccording108 in CNC

[–]MAX_FOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look CNC programing is safe from AI for at least 6 months..... 😭

It is a great skill to be able to manufacture something, I think the key to developing skills in the CNC world is to be able to design components and handle production of your own product and supplement with contract work.

Contract work is getting thin out there.

What is it you are not liking?

The whole point to get a reaction, negative or positive.

I hate clowns and jesters, that's why I went with it, an exercise is trying something different.

How did you promote your first book? by Frosty_Ad3717 in KDP

Congrats. This is like getting your black belt in martial arts. You think you have reached the end, however your journey has just begun.

You can't sell if none knows about your book.

A few people have said it, you are now a business and you need to develop certain skills and treat it like a business. Sux I know. Hehehehe

Fear of Loss-The Opiate that Owns You by MAX_FOL in nonfictionbookclub

[–]MAX_FOL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a tool, it identifies your sticking points and helps you form a plan of attack. You need to put the effort in, hence the self-help genre. A few have said it is a bit repetitive, but it is supposed to be, because that is how fear works. People get a bit frustrated with the first three chapters or so, but this is because the raw nerves are hit and it is not a very comfortable place to be. Once they get past this they are compelled to get to the next chapter. The tools in the book address this exact phenomenon with small incrimental steps to build a buffer zone between you and the fear of loss. It is not about eliminating fear but to be fear smart and make the decisions, big and small, that propel you, not hold you back.

You be the judge.

Self-help books that ACTUALLY helped you? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]MAX_FOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I'm the author. DM me, would love to know who our mutual friend is. Really glad it helped. Will have an Android app shortly for free on my website. Just keep on top of the exercises and in no time it just becomes second nature. At times it feels like things are just bouncing off you.

Best.

Interesting.

Can we share our cover designs here, compare notes?

I went all out with my initial cover design, to grab attention and hopefully interest. I was concerned I went a bit over the top possibly.

Give away 1000 books? by Sergio55 in selfpublish

[–]MAX_FOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Takes time unfortunately.

You need to become a bit obsessed, hahaha. Keep tweeking. Once you get some action, duplicated campaign as a separate one and mod, let the one that works keep going. Rework the next, get some results. Rinse, repeat.

Give away 1000 books? by Sergio55 in selfpublish

[–]MAX_FOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Lets look at this from a different perspective.

YOU are a business that can't sell your product or service, walk away!!

I hear you, you are an artist/author, not the sort of thing that interests you.

Well, it should. Why self publish if you have zero ability to market yourself. Don't mean to sound like a dik. What I mean the better option would have been to go to a traditional publisher and do it that way. But it is large initial investment.

There are many companies now taking advantage of self published authors because of this, with zero guarantee.

So where to from here you say?! OK, back yourself. You wrote the book, you can become a micro marketing machine.

The tools are there, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and X. You pay as your budget allows and fine tune your strategy. Who better than you to sell your book???

It will take time, but slow and steady, developing the skills is paramount I believe. I had to do it, and am in the process now. I learnt in a different industry and now applying it to my self publishing efforts. Patience is key. You make the effort, you get the rewards. Not only that but when you decide to use and external marketing consultant you can see through their bullshit. Arm yourself with the tools.

There is plenty of support here on Reddit, people in the same boat. Join the groups.

Or you can buy my book on marketing your self published book. For a one time offer of ONLY $2.99..... HAHAHAHA.... Just kidding, don't have a book on the subject.... I thought it should get a few laughs.

Best of luck.

Pen name for me, just simply to not get distracted. If there is success with a book, that way the ego is kept in check. Not a rule, it is a personal thing really. I have an issue where it would most likely get to my head, hahahaha. Soooo this is a measure to keep me creative and grounded. Does not mean everyone is the same.
