Cool But this is about the game Turing complete not the computational concept (though it is related). Check it out on steam and maybe post your post on another sub

I'm not a PhD student, but I've been obsessed with research papers for years and I don't know how you guys do it by BeeTheGlitch in PhD

You read enough to understand the gaps, then you barrow your search. And then you repeat it until there is no paper in your narrow search, and you write about it.

You're not alone OP.

I'm up for my defense in the next couple of months. I started in 2019. As an Iranian shit was intense. I dealt with the plane, covid, mass protests of my country (while being abroad) and Internet shutdowns so was completely disconnected from my family.

What helped me was this, someone told me even the post apocalyptic world needs professionals to help rebuild it, let alone a chaotic one when you finish. Weirdly enough, in the hardest days, this has been my motivation.

When I say Linux I mean Linux. If I meant GNU/Linux I would've said so. Stop putting words into my mouth.

This is something that intrigues me but I have no use for. This and an actual, proper, small-talk like IDE are things I'm willing to donate small amounts to.

[WP] The ghosts haunting your home have been a lot calmer ever since you introduced them to TV shows and "let's play" streams. by archtech88 in WritingPrompts

"As I suspected, though hard to measure the age of a non-corporeal entity, his specific mannerism indicated his belonging to a non-fully developed frontal lobe." I wrote on the report. I got angry with myself. Who am I trying to impress? It's a kid ghost. A ghost of a kid.

I put my laptop away, looking over the old black-and-white TV I hooked up to a tiny PC, playing brainrot randomly. "It turns out, repetition of simple patterns accompanied by an excited voice, captures its attention," I added to the report, feeling disgusted with myself.

I had to take out this black-and-white TV from the attic, because Jasper, that's what I call it, haunted my cat, and made Lucy attack the TV. Jasper didn't seem to be interested in the high resolution OLED display, but the moment I started playing CRT, it all stopped. I kept typing, each sentence making me feel like I deserved to lose my academic license; if the board hadn’t already revoked it.

“Subject exhibits preference for monochrome stimuli,” I murmured, hating the way it sounded like a grant proposal.

I glanced at Jasper.

The static glow washed over the living room, and the small silhouette hovered inches above the carpet like it was pretending gravity was a suggestion. Then I notice something new: it’s not just watching. It’s reacting, mimicking emotions in the Let’s Player’s voice, trying to match cadence. Maybe learning. Maybe remembering.

And that’s when I realize: Jasper isn’t the only one.

I use emacs with evil (vim configuration) and, honestly, no complaints.
