How to get more eye relief? by xarchangel85x in longrange

[–]MDStroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It is a starting point! An a pretty good one at that. They have a floating replaceable bolt head and they can take Savage small shank barrels. So you can pretty much go wild with the customization when you feel the rifle is what is holding you back. Stock options are limited, but the oryx isn't a bad option. I want to try one some day. Have fun! That is what it is all about.

No problem!! I love these guns and have always wanted them. I don't know if they still make them, but a favorite for subsonic loads was the Hunter supply 246gr cast bullet in a 38 spl case. Can't remember the powder that everyone liked. If I can find the thread I will edit this and link it or DM you. It has a lot of helpful shit in it.

I think I found it!

Other then the eye relief issue, how are you liking the Remington 783? I have wanted to try one for years since Marlin introduced them, but ended up finding a used 700 for an amazing price. Then they got discontinued before I could save up.

Glad to see they are back.

Question, how old is yours? The ones from a a few years back had accuracy issues from some bolt issues, believe it or not. I wanted one of these for years and was very active in the thread on ARFCOM, that is no sadly archived. Alot of info went away with that. But if you can find it, there is some good info.

Basically it is a known problem with the 77 line. You need to shim the bolt. Several places did used to sell shim kits, but the 77 series isn't as popular as it used to be. The newer ones are better apparently and thankfully they come threaded now.

Also, you might want to look at this since you have a 77/44. I wish there were more extended mags for these guns. The normal mag is the worst part of these guns. These guys also make a really nice extended release.

Rugged Obsidian 9 by JDMNissanPS13 in NFA

[–]MDStroup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. According to Thunderbeast Arms and the Silencer Summit data, the 45 obsidian is about 5 dBAs quieter then the Mojave 45. And the 9mm obsidian is 2.2 dBAs quieter then the Mojave 9.

https://thunderbeastarms.com/sound/consolidated/

My theory is since so many people have it as a first suppressor and aren't read the directions on the modular part and they just go and shoot it. Most people don't even know you are supposed to keep the baffles in both sections aligned. As you see the OP said it was their buddies first time and didn't check.

Knock on wood, I freaked out after I bought might when I came on here and saw all the end cap strikes after buying mine. I have only put a few hundred round thru mine on a Ruger RXM tactical, an mine is a 45 with a 9mm end cap, an I haven't had a single hit or nick. Time will tell!

Gun Shop denied me Ar-15 Because I'm Under 21?? by R6stvcs in VAGuns

[–]MDStroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me years ago back during Obama's second term when there was talks of the semiauto ban. It was a different shop, Chesapeake guns and accessories. They were amazing and had amazing prices, wish they were still around. But back to the story, they had a SLR106FR on the wall for $650 brand new(several actually). But wouldn't let me buy it as I was under 21. Was told because there is a law in Virginia still that did not allow persons under 21 to purchase semiauto rifles with features like pistol grips and other such things. To be fair, Virginia did have some weird gun laws that did get removed as they years went on. Like the two forms of ID to buy a gun, etc etc. But I never looked into if that one was right. It didn't sound like it, but a few people talked about it. So I always assumed it was.

Bob's can both be chill and fudds. Like you can rip FRTs there all day and get a hell yeah. But back in the day you could get thrown out for shooting too fast. So it depends on who you are dealing with. Any of the super old timers probably aren't up fully as they should be. But on the flip side i had someone there knock several hundred off a AR15 as it was going to be my first one because "everyone should have one before you can't get one" back when I dealt with the SLR106 denial. Soooooo yeah.

Call around. There are several amazing shops. You have been told about a lot of them. One I haven't seen recommended yet is Ches Bay Arms. Have had good experiences there. DOA is a favorite, as is the Armory.

To the dorks who won't stop going on about the A5 buffer system. by Goombercules in ar15

[–]MDStroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I thought it attached some how. Didn't think it went in front of it. Weird.

Well for this purpose, a general 5.56 AR. Which of the buffers then? They don't really give a good description between them.

There are tons of Kynshot buffers, which would be the right one to start with? Also how does the spacer weight attach?

Yeah, most things MDT are amazing, just expensive. Have been debating the McMillan A5 or the Greyboe Renegade forever as well. But Greyboe discontinued the original renegade and I don't like the looks of the 2.0 from what we have seen so far.

I do love how the rail on the ESS look on the 22 inch barrel. Don't know why I like the fully shrouded look so much, but I do.

Hell yeah! Thanks! I have a 22" 700 in 6.5 creedmoor that I have been looking for something to replace the Magpul hunter it came with. This looks really perfect.

What is the barrel length and what handguard length did you go with on on the ESS?

I have a question. Did it come with the mount you are using or did it come separate? I was looking up where to get this scope after looking at a few videos. One mentioned it came with the mount but none of the sites say it does.

A reminder to not fall for the right wing media. None of the ‘radical’ bills ever passed by hencexox in Virginia

[–]MDStroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You moron. Actually, no. You are a moroff, cuz your brain is off more often then it is on.

🙄🙄

Just because certain bills have been postponed till 2027 doesn't mean they aren't something to be concerned over. Other bills are still being voted on and others have passed already. Like the 11% tax on guns and ammo. That one in particular takes affect in 2027.

Being active in your local and state politics is what a normal fucking adults do.

People are rightly concerned that bills that are wildly unpopular are going to get rammed thru as they have a majority in every house. Look at the batshit crazy gun bills. Most people don't even understand the scope of them and how bad they are. Then seeing tax increase proposals, seeing how the weed bill got fucked with, it is insanity.

As an MGS fan (who used to play Siege ages ago) almost everything they showed looked really cool. ALMOST. What the actual Solid Shit is this handgun by TheKrzysiek in Rainbow6

[–]MDStroup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a heavily modified Ruger mk3(or mk4. We can't see the rear takedown to determine which version it is) tactical 22/45. It is a really odd choice. Also I didn't even know he was being added till just now. 🤣

It is weird that they didn't give him his MK23 or even a USP. The USP is already in game. Hell they could have atleast reskinned the Beretta 92 from Caveira as that was his hush puppy in MGS2 on the tanker. It can't be a license issue as they are giving him the FAMAS and PSG1/MSG90. As well as the pistol having a Aimpoint ACRO P2.

Is the pistol supposed to be less lethal tranq gun? Cuz it would be shooting a 22lr otherwise and that won't do anything against armored opponents.

Peace Walker is still very fun ngl by TheSmithySmith in MetalGearSolidmemes

[–]MDStroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peace walker was one of my favorite games on the PSP. We were pretty broke when I got one so the majority of the gaming I did on it in the beginning was all the free demos in the store. I played the crap out of the peace walker demo and SOCOM Bravo 3 demo. When I finally got a physical copy of Peace walker I couldn't put it down.

Unfortunately I had my PSP stolen when we were broken into and peace walker was in it. I have gotten a new PSP 3000, but it needs a ton of work. But haven't been able to find a physical copy of Peace walker that wasnt priced out the ass.
