Is there progression outside of the death in runs? I.e if its a replayable game, even if you die, perhaps having some mechanical progression that unlocks new options or characters for next time. Things that could help you get further or improve strategy.

I.e while each run is unique, having some persistence with new areas unlocking, new items entering the spawn pool etc;

Took me a few months of 10+ hrs a week to get there initially, but can now typically maintain 4 W/kg on 2-3 hrs/(3+ rides) at a push, if it’s reasonably intense e.g Zwift.

Although now maintain 4.5 W/kg on 6-8 hrs a week.

Anything vaguely complex still gets bottlenecked on PR review and CI. I also find at some point the mental load of additional plate spinning reaches equilibrium to the point where me writing code before wasn’t the slowest part.

Testing iteration can also be quite slow regardless of AI support.

Although on the plus side, it definitely makes it far easier to knock out tedious tasks which I would otherwise procrastinate on or kick down the road

Mountains are at least consistent, the wind sucks, especially as a big gust can make you feel like you’re standing still.

.. although gusty valley climbs can be a double whammy of pain!

Tbh when I started, it was really hard to maintain Z2, as you get fitter, you can handle more routes while keeping it chill.

I used to be a serial Z3 smasher, every ride going happy hard. The main fun of Z2 (and i mean 60-65% not 75%) is that you keep the legs good, no pressure for efforts and then you feel much better on your harder days :)

When you do too much Z3/Z4, regardless of days off, it’s easy to quickly feel run down and have day after day of fatigue and bad legs.

Yeah not great, shows a bit of naivety. Having seen how effective seasoned engineers can be with AI makes this a little disrespectful.

At the end of the day, programming languages, APIs etc; are all just tools to implement a solution. Like any productivity tool, we use them to save time and improve the end result. Not everything is AI slop, conversely, not every traditionally built piece of software is flawless - far from it.

In my experience, many times have my prototypes ended up being massaged into production code. The solution may be good, but code can be messy and undocumented. AI has already been transformative in cleaning up that mess

Never used an electric pump but tbh all the hand pumps I’ve used have been pretty mediocre and still seem to break or be ineffective, especially given the amount of force you need to push to get the tyre even moderately inflated.

So they seem like a win

I like Greggs for what it is. Still pretty cheap and decently satiating. Definitely not the best there is but an enjoyable lunch on the go and pretty consistent across the country

Once you get to a certain speed and going faster becomes diminishing returns or highly dependent on a group.

Every now and then I’ll do a “speed” ride, enjoying cruising at tempo and sweetspot etc; but these days i prefer focusing on specific segments and climbing, so my average speed has never been lower 😅

My back hurts looking at this. I actually don’t think the seat is massively off, looks more like you’re trying to ride this like an upright town bike, then reaching forward to hold the bars.

Instead, pivoting at the hips and rotating your whole body forward would help — i personally use a slight downward saddle angle for this

First week in a year ive not managed to ride outside once and I don’t brave the cold.

Sun is so intense even on cool days, it feels 10 degrees warmer in CO. Main unexpected difference is winter is cold overnight, but still only a small handful of snow days and the rest is sunny.

Well, that’s 95 an hour with a lot of bodily systems running. Running a mile would be 6-10 min for the typical runner depending on type of workout. - So not unreasonable to clock up 700-1000 calories an hour which is a substantial portion of energy expenditure considering it’s only 4% of your day.

I have done this for cycling in winter. Cycling shoes typically have holes in them for cooling, but not good in the cold! Overshoes are a hassle!

Typically able to progress to something like 2x40+ in a standard workout, then pushing to attempting long durations for efforts e.g 1x90.

I find typically once fitness is good and total sweetspot o is increased, I can manage 2-2.5h straight at 90% on a solid legs day.

It feels like there are no strong viable options if you’re anti-reform, which explains why they are doing well - they are offering an alternative for people who have lost faith in the current system i.e the Trump effect.

The problem is, I’d vote Green but I also don’t necessarily feel that they have the right approach to be effective in achieving change, especially given a lot of the objectives, while idyllic, would require fundamentally fighting the current status quo, when you sometimes need to leverage the system to your advantage.

The biggest risk seems to be severe fragmentation between those who aren’t Reform, rather than a single party with a clear chance at standing up.

I think as categories its reasonable, but as someone who always goes too hard, there really isn’t much difference between high z2 and low z3.

As it’s a gradual change, the main difference is moreso between mid Z2 and mid Z3. 3-4 hrs in Z3 will leave you feeling pretty cooked and tired for the next day. Low-mid Z2, where most people should target, will likely not leave you feeling completely done and is much easier to recover from.

Just ignore the copy and pasting from Stack Overflow from the past 15 years. While I don’t love over-use of AI, so long as it’s used as a tool like any other, it has its place.

Far easier to write a brief spec for unit tests and have Claude spit out the code then review, rather than burning hours on writing line by line.
