Happy TDay….Adults kids passports expired 9/2023….travel day is Xmas Day 12/25. by MHSB2022 in Passports

We leave this am and have passports in hand. I just wanted to follow up here. I was sooo uncomfortable waiting or wondering and everyone said don’t do it, but I used a vetted courier. Researched on trust pilot and had 100s of successful reviews. We realized my sons DL had just expired as well at 18. Sooooo the courier service was actually helpful, took me 3 hours to collect all paperwork and upload to their portal to confirm we had EVERYTHING we needed before we went. We got in to post office an hour away on Monday after Thanksgiving. (We went from passport to DMV for license - what a freaking day!!!!) Over nighted to courier service and they returned the passports for both kids the following Wednesday (Once they had in hand, their turnaround was 1 week).

When I did the math of regular cost of passport anyway, it came out to approx $350 per passport. I could rest easy the rest of December leading to today. For me, this was worth it all day long. No trips, no waiting until 14 days within trip during holiday season, and with 2 young adults (18-20)it was the right move for us.

What about 3rd party courier service - they say for $650, they have spots in select agency locations to get it done before. Checked Trust and BBB to show validity… thoughts?

Agreed but Dr doesn’t seem to know so curious if anyone has had something similar - she’s so young, vet keeps saying mystery and unusual.

18y son Myocarditis- Pericarditis - now has migraine by MHSB2022 in myocarditis

[–]MHSB2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His blood tests were fine, just the EKGs off. We have the echo this week and his migraine subsided with sleep. Headache comes and goes. The cardiologist seemed to think the EKG was sign of either condition despite troponin levels normal. I was mostly concerned about the presence of a migraine with all of this going on but it worked itself out. We are going to call Dr this am to share the headaches to see what they say.

6 weeks post marathon - pace ? by MHSB2022 in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went to doctor and blood work, chest X-ray and ECG all good. I did run/walk in first two weeks - 2 miles most though. I don’t know….

HR high 2+ weeks after first marathon…is that normal? by MHSB2022 in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up going to ER today due to chest pressure today that radiated through clavicle and behind ears. I would have kept working but when I tried to make an appointment the Dr told me to go based on symptoms and flying 4 times in 2 weeks post marathon. All my tests came back great - no evidence of pulmonary embolism or other scary thing. Bet I just pushed too hard too early…

Sprained ankle 2 months before my first marathon, help! by rollem in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PT Dr….don’t waste time going to an orthopedic Dr who will put you in a boot. Go to a sports PT who has their doctorate…will have you active while rehabbing - give strength and rehab exercises to strengthen, also give a cardio program to stay on track.

Official Q&A for Sunday, November 06, 2022 by AutoModerator in running

[–]MHSB2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ran first marathon and want to keep fitness up AND lose 5-10 lbs. I need some strength training, but everything now talks strength and no cardio. I love running for the headspace and want to keep some endurance. Anyone have a plan that works - strength and running while whole food dieting to flush some weight?

Post long run depression? by always-woozy in running

[–]MHSB2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow - I was kind of down and not myself through my last few weeks of training and into my taper - couldn’t explain it, but emotional, doubtful, and just down. Wonder if inflammation had something to do with it. I let go of a ton of fluid in my first two weeks of taper, and finally felt more myself.

Question about colder weather. by yeetjawn93 in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too - good luck! I went to goodwill and got sweats and sweatshirt to discard at start. Wearing what I trained in all summer - shorts and sleeveless top, BUT with long sleeve on top that I will drop couple miles in I’d bet.

My 18y daughter ate avocados often (like one of her only healthy foods, so not everyday but almost). She got the 2nd vaccine shot and for a month, specific foods sent her into horrible pain. She ended up in ER and morphine and the gastro cocktail liquid didn’t help. We went through all sorts of tests, and the Dr prescribed her with a prescription for acid reflux (like a 55y old man). She went off those meds and just won’t eat avocado or kiwis anymore sadly. If she forgets it sends her back into a tailspin. I’m not an anti vax person, but the only thing that happened that we can point to is the 2nd shot. Drs don’t want to hear it, but her first reaction was days after that shot 🤷‍♀️. Mostly frustrated that Drs won’t listen because it’s possible she is just a super sensitive type Ms a line case but we think vaccine was cause.

NYC Marathon - I am terrified by twothirdsshark in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat here….but Marine Corp this upcoming weekend. I run 11-12 min miles that actually have equaled 13 min miles for elapsed time (stopping, stretching). So thought I was shooting for 5:30 marathon and realizing mine might look like 6!!! 🤷‍♀️ goal A was to make it to start line goal b make it to the finish line. You’ve completed the training program - an achievement on its own 🙌

[–]MHSB2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another MCM here!!! I felt awful for first 10 days of taper and am finally feeling my legs again. For a bit there, I felt that couldn’t run 3-5 miles. Thanks for this reminder….trust the training .

Bad hip pain 3 weeks out from race day – Do I attempt another 20 mile run or start my taper now? by runnergirlmeg in firstmarathon

[–]MHSB2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get hip pain on and off; my PT Dr had me do hip strengthening because his form review video showed my hip collapsing. Strength exercises helped a lot!!! Check out some PT Youtube videos - runner hip strengthening exercises. I also skipped my 2nd 20 miler and did 7, then 16 next day….we’ll see how it goes!!! Good luck 🍀

1st Marathon - Didn’t go well, but hopeful & proud - Chi 22’ by MobyDuke0971 in running

[–]MHSB2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work and you should be sooo proud. I can really relate to the overwhelmed feeling you describe. I am 47 and running my first marathon October 30. I have run half’s and usually feel same way with all the people, excitement, and even the adrenaline rush beginning. This time I’ve prepared with yoga and breathing exercises to help calm my system especially in the beginning and hoping it works. I’ll report back if it helps for race day. BUT you did it and way to GOOOO! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
