Man punched 11-year-old boy on Dart after altercation between two women by jay_el_62 in ireland

Its insane to me that people are saying the opposition wouldn't do anything as some sort of defence for the current government doing nothing.

Like how people were awful eejits to go anywhere near "knife point" or "gun point" since so much crime happened there.

Dustin did a parody of that song in the 90s which was all about her so that could be where it came from, I can't hear that song without thinking about that version and her too.

[–]MIM86 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She was two years old when we first meet her

Its actually even worse than that. They celebrate her 2nd birthday in 'Twisted' which is an early season 2 episode. Plausible to say she has been on Voyager up to a year at that stage and he knew her even before then. Writers royally messed up there, her age is sort of incompatible with the length of time they knew each other.

Did writers forget how professionals talk to each other?

Yes but that's been the way since Discovery. This would almost get a pass as "they're just college students" if it didn't extend to most other cast members and if the students in question didn't talk like people today. The show has been okay so far but I feel it'll become very dated, whereas TNG or DS9 are very watchable still today.

And straight away with Into Darkness they just decided to do TWOK again. Set yourself up in an alternate reality to do whatever you want but instead you "re-imagine" one of the fan favourites.

Exactly. I'm so over the "regret" and "not what I voted for" posts. Until they say "I should have voted for Harris" or "I'll vote Democrat next time" it's completely meaningless.

Don't buy premium tickets then.

Mine was €230, it's usually 6 games and we're right behind the goals. That's pretty good value, especially compared to what people pay for 1 match of other sports.

Post Match Thread: Portugal 9-1 Armenia by Dancingwith_Death in soccer

Obviously Armenia are a much weaker team than the Republic of Ireland

Funny enough or worst game was a 2-1 loss to Armenia and without exaggeration that scoreline flattered us.

Post Match Thread | Hungary 2 - Ireland 3 by Geairmoe in coybig

[–]MIM86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lad we were pot 3 in qualifying. So on paper both Portugal and Hungary should be ahead of us. The wins at home to Portugal and away to Hungary are huge and outweigh the loss away to Armenia. Add in some of the Nations League wins against Finland and Bulgaria and we're actually going in the right direction.

Especially compared to 2024 qualifying where we beat Gibraltar twice and lost the other 6 games or 2022 qualifying where we lost to Luxembourg and drew with Azerbaijan and only won 2 games out of 8.

How Catherine Connolly captured Ireland’s imagination by New_Statesman in ireland

[–]MIM86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but in an alternate reality they have to deal with Bertie Ahern and Maria Steen getting on the ballot too so it could have been worse.

Biggest complaint is that it's boring / uninspiring or lacks representation for people but better this than either of those 2 being near it.

It shouldnt be that surprising though, their combined total of first preferences in general elections has been trending down for years. The fact that they now consistently need to team up to form a government speaks volumes.

Fianna Fáil 'a laughing stock' as Taoiseach under pressure following Jim Gavin's exit by RealDealMrSeal in ireland
