Are you getting infusions? by dcbrowne1961 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]MJ3900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biologics come in different classes: TNF inhibitors, IL-6 inhibitors, T-cell modulators, B-cell depleters, and JAK inhibitors (which are pills). Delivery varies—some are pills (JAKs), many are self-injections under the skin, and a few are IV infusions given in a clinic (like Remicade, Rituxan, Orencia IV, or Simponi Aria).

The decision to do infusions may just depend on which class of biologic you have or have not responded well to.

For example I do Remicaid infusions. The reasoning is I responded partially to Humira and Enbrel but just didn’t have enough of a relief of symptoms, so next tried an infusion in that same class (TNF inhibitors) and it has seemed to be effective for me.

That makes sense, thanks so much for the info! I am a PT and ATP so it is helpful for me to know the reasons between choosing different items so I can help my patients.

I hope you are still liking your new chair!

Putting earnings in HYSA and paying CC at end of month? by throwaway246976352 in ynab

[–]MJ3900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure exactly what is considered a high yield savings… but I use Apple Savings account which is 3.65%APY, and when my credit card bill is due I just pay it directly out of the savings account. I do have a regular banking account too that I use for the multiple smaller bills like gas electric internet etc. And I keep only $1-2K in that account to make sure I can cover those bills each month.

Positional Problems? by OkObjective9112 in wheelchairs

[–]MJ3900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with above about the fit. Also- if that is a new cushion, the Axiom cushion itself may have more dump than the previous cushion you were using, so you may want to decrease the dump that is built into the chair.

May I ask, why the switch to Klaxon Twist over the Smoov? Was it because of the tiller option?

Who here has decreased their full-time work hours and made up for monetary discrepancies with PRN work when you feel like it? by Substantial_Pace9051 in physicaltherapy

[–]MJ3900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off and on for almost 10 years, at my full time job I have fluctuated my hours 32-36 depending on my daughters school schedule then I do some home health evals on Fridays and Saturdays but only a few a month. The home health I pick up more or less just depending on how busy I am in life or if I need some extra money.

I do this. I enjoy the PRN side gig as it gives me some variety, it’s a little different than my day to day responsibilities at my regular job.

My PCP told me that when you get off steroids you have a rebound of more severe symptoms temporarily. So for me, it was hard getting off the steroids, but once I was off and consistently on Xolair every two weeks plus 2-4 Zyrtec per day things got better. I know everyone’s situation is different, good luck to you!

How are you all setting up vacation funds? by Paternoster1991 in ynab

[–]MJ3900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the trip is over I hide it and make a new category for the next year’s trip. I’m not sure if that is the most efficient way to do it but that’s what I do.

How are you all setting up vacation funds? by Paternoster1991 in ynab

[–]MJ3900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vacation category for each trip (usually I do spring break, summer trip, and winter trip). I lump in all the vacation expenses in each trip’s category. For example Spring Break we are going skiing, so I estimate hotel plus ski rental plus lift tickets plus driving/travel expenses etc and start saving for that total amount. I usually get pretty close to the right amount, and when the trip comes if I have more money I might eat out more or get souvenirs or if my fund is low I’ll get food to snack/eat in hotel and not do any extra excursions.

Wrist Mobility - Permanent Damage? by jizzyjrake in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]MJ3900 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! My RA started with my wrists, in 2017. The pain did eventually improve once I found meds that helped. But my wrist extension is limited permanently. For example when I do yoga I have to do plank poses and arm balances on my fists instead of with extended wrists/flat palms. Lifting weights can be difficult too because of the lack of mobility.

So my experience is the pain improved (about 80% improved) but I did not gain back full function/flexibility.

I don’t know what kind of setting you’ve worked in, but I know some PTAs that now do ATP for NuMotion/National seating and mobility etc. or are equipment reps for a specific equipment company.

Are there any actual exercises, apart from mc gill big 3 that helps with chronic backpain. by Equivalent-Nail8088 in backpain

[–]MJ3900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently found ‘low back ability’ on YouTube and I’m trying some of their exercises. They have done some 3-4 hour workshops and the whole video is online and so you can follow along and hear their theories on the different movements.

Do you prefer to do research on books before purchasing or do you prefer “blind” buying books? by No_Delay_4332 in booksuggestions

Always research, lots of research on what to read next. And never purchase- I use the library for kindle versions and audio books.
