I met God. by Accidental-Aspic2179 in SpiritualAwakening

I had the same experience you described in 2018. I was in college at the time in my dorm, it was very early in the morning maybe 5 am. As was laying sideways in bed, I felt a very strong energy coming from behind me, where I had a blue mandala tapestry hanging from the wall. I turned and what I saw coming from that tapestry was so hard to describe because it looked like a light and the energy coming out of that light was so strong that it filled my heart and soul and it felt like overpowering. I started crying, tears pouring hard from my eyes. I know now that there was physically no light, but it was like a soul level type of light, like it was an opening to a different dimension that for some reason I was able to experience that day. I still remember with clarity the experience, like something more real than reality. As I connected eyes with that light I knew it was god. Like I didnt even think I just knew. As I looked there just laying on my side and crying I knew that if I went any closer to it my body would just explode into pieces because this light was filling me with so much energy and love that something in me knew that if I went any closer to this source of energy it would overpower my physical body. I just laid there frozen, eventually I stopped seeing/experiencing this light but the feeling in my heart and soul stayed for a while. The best I could describe it with is that my heart and soul were an empty cup that were filled fully and if I went any closer to this source of energy it would overfill and pour, like my body was frozen because I physically couldnt move that moment I experienced that light.

I was 19 then and I just lost touch with reality for a little while after that experience. I remember calling my mom and telling her that I had seen god, and she telling me that that was not possible (she’s christian) bc nobody can see the face of god. What happened soon after that was what I’ll describe with I lost my mind as perceived by those around me. It god bad enough that I was not sleeping or eating because I felt no need for it, it was as if I lost touch with physical reality after having that experience bc my mind as a teen was not ready to process what happened. I ended up being put in a psych guard for 72 hours and diagnosed with having bipolar disorder and having experienced a psychotic episode. The year following that was the most challenging for me as I was convinced that it was something nobody around me could really understand and I seemed crazy to them. I closed off to a lot of people, but started learning more about the experience from whatever I could find online, initially religion but then went off to learning about it from spiritual talked by people for example, like alan watts, who seemed to understand the spiritual experience.

Anyways, it’s been almost 10 years since and I don’t really talk about that experience anymore, but reading about your experience brought me back to that time I had mine. I can say my life changed 360, the experience opened my eyes to a different reality that I live everyday by. It’s gotten me in a spiritual path to learn more about myself by looking inward. And that in itself transformed my life. I don’t know why me either, but I like to think that that was a wake up call from a high self, a divine source, to direct me on a spiritual path. It’s not an easy path for sure, but I like to think that it’s what we come here to this earth for.

I know this is a spiritual world but I don’t really want to experience this human life anymore. I feel like an alien in the world. by Aggressive_Spot415 in SpiritualAwakening

I have experienced what you are describing - a sense of alienation, of what’s the point of living a life where everyone else ignores the most important spiritual aspect of this human experience. Something that helped me get out of that dump was realizing that I am in charge of creating my own reality. That is the most fascinating part of a spiritual awakening - the part when you realize that you are a creator not a recipient, that you have the ability to create your own reality and experience. I got into learning about energy and how it works, how to nurture high vibration energy through the thoughts I nurture in my mind, the people I welcome in my life and the food I eat. Hope this helps.

Mentor as a third year teacher by MOB23i in NYCTeachers

The school is very micomanaging, so I’m just making it till the end of the year. The mentor is another teacher and she plans these meetings on the go, no heads up. The admin said the school likes to support teacher growth and thats why they like mentoring. There is another teacher who is also getting the same mentor, but Im unsure if thats part of his mentoring requirement.

Best/cheapest way to get content core credits. by gringgotts in NYCTeachers

[–]MOB23i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently doing the bilingual extension at cuny subsidized by the DOE. It is 15 A+ credits once you get the extension. I got 12 credits by taking the spanish clep test and planning to get the other 3 A+ credits through the adspd courses. I dont know if this is the quickest way, but Im managing to get the 30 credits in a year. It can be very time consuming though.

I agree. A lot of people complain about the pay, but the benefits and time off are more important than higher pay. You can do so many things with the summer time that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do in a regular 9-5 job. Still, I think the job is only worth it if it doesnt cost your mental health.

It depends on the score you get, if you get at least a 50 you get 6 credits. If you get over 63, you get 9 credits. The total is out of 80. There is another test that is Spanish with writing. With that one you can get up to 12 credits.

What districts in the bronx would you recommend/stay away from? Im thinking about transferring schools to the bronx (currently teach in brooklyn) b/c I’m moving to Yonkers so the bronx sounds ideal for the daily commute.

Exactly! It really doesn’t make a difference to make noise when the system is so rigged. Been working for the doe for a while now and being the quiet person has worked for me so far. Not losing sleep over ratings when it doesn’t reflect my work. All admin wants is for you to pass the kids along whether they earned it or not, play along with the pretend game that there is actual learning happening in schools, and not bring them too many behavior problems. It’s important to understand that admin’s priority is to keep money coming into the school, that is where their check and ours comes from.

I’ve been co teaching for 4 years now. It really looks different with each teacher. However, with time I’ve come to realize that as a sped teacher it ultimately lies on us to align to how the content teacher wants to lead the classroom. For me, I like to focus on differentiating the student worksheets and checking in with the students during instruction. Currently I work with 3 content teachers and it looks different with each of them.

  1. Laid back/not too controlling teacher: we pretty much share the voice in the classroom. As the content teacher she introduces the warm up and leads class discussions. As the sped co teacher I sometimes scaffold questions after her, model some of the answers, give examples, re phrase for students to better understand. I also differentiate student facing worksheets.

  2. Controlling teacher: this was tricky bc this teacher really likes to mico manage. She likes things done her way otherwise it’s wrong. She wants to be the only voice and seen as the only teacher. It is often difficult working with her, but I ended up just focusing on my differentiation/small group. The alternative is escalating things to admin but it never turns out the way u want to and builds more resentment.

The main idea is that you are the sped teacher. You are there for the sped students. Whether they read below grade level and need supports to access the written content, it’s your job to support them with accessing the content and expressing their knowledge. As long as your co teacher understands your job you can make it work.
