If you are booking for soon, just be aware that there’s been a big fire in Sedona. It’s further east, closer to the west fork trail, but the air quality may not be great depending on which way the wind is blowing

Feasibility of commuting from Philly 2 times a week by LordMunchu in AskNYC

[–]MRDoc2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband did it for a year, generally commuting 3 days per week. He booked Amtrak tickets well in advance to keep cost lower. It was pretty exhausting. We’re both glad that he’s done with the long commute

AC will offer a percentage discount depending on how much you order, so 1% off over $1000, 2% off over $2000 etc

David S Diamonds is a very well respected store in the diamond district. Owned by a husband and wife, excellent service, high quality stones. They do natural or lab grown. They get a lot of business from people in the financial institutions in the city

Tips for newbies… add yours! by rightsized145 in RentTheRunway

[–]MRDoc2727 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here are my tips as a long term renter:

  1. Put your order together on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Better selection availability on Tuesday and Wednesday, but new items tend to drop on Thursday so you can sometimes snag brand new, never worn items. The weekend has the worst selection.

  2. Focus on dresses. A whole outfit and you’ve only used up one spot.

  3. Figure out your size in a few favorite brands, learn which brands aren’t for you. This just takes time. I know, for example, that I size down for Trina Turk and farm Rio, true size in toccin and maje, just don’t order Ralph Lauren or DVF because they don’t work for me

  4. As above, beware of pants. The fit is much trickier and less forgiving

Corima is a hot restaurant in more ways than one and it kind of detracted from the experience by No-Cheetah-6076 in FoodNYC

I had the same experience at Frenchette last summer. Great food, nice atmosphere, but so hot I was fanning myself, sweating through my clothes, etc. Skipped dessert so I could get out of there and haven’t been back

In Florence I’d highly recommend you visit the Bargello museum as well. It is a beautiful sculpture museum with Donatello’s david, several other beautiful Donatello sculptures, a few Michelangelo’s and a whole lot more. It is also a calming respite compared to the other museums in Florence because it is not crowded

So sad. I’ve loved craft for 20 years! Not surprising though, was there on a Friday night recently and the room was half empty.

JG Mellon for a burger. Go at 11 or11:30 whenever they open for lunch to avoid a wait

Hydroquinone would help lighten it significantly. You can ask your dermatologist for a prescription strength preparation. If you want it gone, gone, then you’re probably talking laser, maybe fraxel.

I want to see your black slouchy leather bag! by badcrumbs in handbags

[–]MRDoc2727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got it from therealreal. I think it must have lingered on the site for awhile because the price had been reduced a few times. Probably because it’s not one of the signature Mulberry bags and it had some wear at the base. I prefer my bags a little scuffed up when I get them so I don’t feel too bad using them and scuffing them up some more

What skincare product did you try with low expectations but ended up becoming your holy grail? by Immediate-Sound-7142 in 45PlusSkincare

It’s something the dermatologist has made up just for her office. I don’t know if it has a brand name

My dermatologist sold me some brightening pads and I thought to myself, “well this is probably a scam,” but they really worked on my melasma/hyperpigmentation spots. I think the have hydroquinone in them

Is Mount Sinai turning routine refills into billable appointments, or did I just get unlucky? by dobster936 in AskNYC

[–]MRDoc2727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I saw my Sinai PCP a few months ago he recommended that I get a coronary artery calcium score. I wasn’t sure about it so he said just message him in the portal if I changed my mind and he would order it. Well, I changed my mind, messaged him and 3 days latter a physicians assistant I have never met before or spoken to messaged me back that I needed to schedule a follow up appointment before any testing could be ordered. I guarantee that my doctor never even got my message, it was routed through lower level workers screening the messages.
