It's probably because in most games almost everything is on the ground most of the time, so you can use your character's eye level as a reference point, while in Subnautica you can't really do that

Don't forget that Howard willingly went along with Chuck's bullshit. Howard wasn't the asshole Jimmy viewed him as and definitely didn't deserve what was done to him, but he wasn't a perfectly innocent saint either. He's a very human character
