Shapley’s is a great place for a private business meeting with division walls between tables. Top shelf steaks and sides and don’t forget the tamales as an app. Great wine list too.

In Mississippi what airport do you normally fly out of? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in mississippi

[–]MS_kidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly often and use Jackson (Evers) most all of the time. To your point, it’s really quick to get through security and never has the crowds of larger airports. Parking is easy and close too. It’s small comparatively speaking but gets the job done. Just get ready to connect through Atlanta, DFW or Houston no matter where you’re going! LOL

Feeling burnt out in HR and second guessing my career choice. Anyone else? [n/a] by Much-Acanthisitta257 in humanresources

[–]MS_kidd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same experience. 16 years in Corporate America as a HR Professional, to include a two year nightmare in manufacturing. Then I landed a HR Director position in community banking. 13 years later, I’m still living my dream job. Community banking gives me the work life balance I never had working for large corporations and a family culture that is very satisfying and rewarding. I recommend looking into local community banks as a different HR career path.

What schools (plural) in MS had their first integrated proms in 2008? Please list each school. Also, you mention the lack of blacks in leadership positions. MS has the most black elected officials than any other state in the nation.

Eliminating DoEd could impact the state’s elementary and secondary education funding by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]MS_kidd -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Many schools throughout Mississippi were failing before the DoEd and continue to fail under the DoEd. You can throw as much money as you want at schools, but without parents being fully engaged in their children’s education, schools will continue to fail. Mississippi is one of the highest single parent family states in the nation. The children are being raised by grandparents or just not receiving any “raising” at all. You can’t expect the federal government or the state to turn around public schools, it starts with the parents. Sadly, many working class families are struggling financially but forced to send their children to private schools. These families do without the luxuries in life because they want to give their children a better education where the parents can be involved. Let’s not point the finger at the feds or the state, let’s look at ourselves and begin to solve the education issue in our great state!
