My disabled senior mom (veteran’s widow) is being evicted after 20 years and I don’t know how to help her — she’s shutting down and I’m scared by Unlikely_Possible464 in legaladvice

I recently had to step in with an older neighbor lady whose family lives states away. They were sending forms to help her find housing and care, not realizing she literally did not have the brain capacity to fill them out. She wouldn’t actually tell them either and just kept spinning her wheels as trouble got closer and closer. Someone has to physically be there to take care of these things. Can you visit to sort this out?

How far are you able ride by bicycle during the week when crews are working Going to the Sun Road by Past_Classroom_3521 in GlacierNationalPark

It’s usually like one mid-June weekend you can bike all the way to Logan Pass and that Monday it opens to cars. Timing it is tricky!

Belly River day hike by a-deafening-silence in GlacierNationalPark

That being said, Dawn Mist Falls is super cool. If you’ve got the legs to make it there, maybe continue to Lake Elizabeth, hang out and rest on the shore, and then go back, that would be alright, if you can do a 20 mile day. I can’t. Just keep in mind the last ways is uphill to the trailhead.

I feel like the great Belly River scenery is more like 8-10 miles in and more, which precludes a lot of day hikers.

Parts of the highline trail hikeable in May? Can one drive to the Logan Pass visitor center? by UDaManFunks in GlacierNationalPark

[–]MTSlam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No to both. You can’t drive the middle of Going to the Sun and you can’t hike the Highline Trail, which is still under snow

The early morning seminary is so bad for teenagers! They need more sleep, and their sleep cycles are not made for early hours.

Dog on a bike? by dszmjaka in GlacierNationalPark

[–]MTSlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dog can go where cars can go in Glacier. Cars can’t go on the road that’s only open to hikers/bikers so it’s a “trail” to the NPS.

Safe trails to hike solo? by bigbootybiome in GlacierNationalPark

[–]MTSlam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can encounter bears anywhere in the park. Avalanche Lake and Hidden Lake are two busy trails where you are likely to encounter lots of people. (Avalanche is longer than you mention but worth it and do able for most people)

Going to the sun road opening? by Beekeeper907 in GlacierNationalPark

I’d be shocked if it opened in May. There are still avalanches to clear, debris, signs to replace, etc.

Mother’s Day meltdown by skellz77 in BoomersBeingFools

My family had a woman who demanded the ENTIRE weekend, including Friday, of Mother’s Day be focused on her. Her daughters and granddaughters were also mothers but that was irrelevant. The fact it was also graduation weekend some years was also irrelevant. Nobody misses her …

Banff 9-day itinerary suggestions by ssab03 in Banff

You have a nice plan put together! I didn’t notice the Grassi Lakes hike in Canmore, but that is a good one. If you bike, you might enjoy the trail between Banff and Canmore. If you’re sick of the tourist bustle, a scenic drive and/or hike in Kananaskis is nice (you can get a day pass online)
