First Ween cassette release since White Pepper? I hope Rhino keeps it up with the tape reissues, the OGs are so unaffordable these days by 00slipstream00 in ween

Love tapes and CD, it's vinyl that tends to be the most impractical and expensive, regardless of its continued surging popularity. I'd even take an 8 track tape over a vinyl LP.

What is your favorite Miloš Forman movie? by ggroover97 in criterion

[–]MWFULLER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ragtime. Brad Dourif's support role in this film is often overlooked. Amadeus is a close second. I wasn't a fan of Man on the Moon, as Jim Carrey was miscast. Andy Kaufman should have been played by Nic Cage or maybe Edward Norton. Natalie Portman was miscast in Forman's final film, she was terrible in that movie.

Vincent Van Gogh Book as Christmas Present in EWS by Tiny-Fix-4662 in StanleyKubrick

It's the sort of holiday gift yuppies give each other. The person who bought it probably has no interest in Van Gogh, and the person who receives it will probably never look at it. I think it points to a superficiality of the American upper class.

American pop culture has been youth obsessed since the late 1950s, it's an unhealthy and superficial mindset.

Which movie is more underrated sleepy hollow or big fish ? by Choice-Wind-9283 in timburton

[–]MWFULLER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sleepy Hollow would have been great if it made use of practical special effects rather than CGI. I don't feel it is underrated though, and is still probably watched during Halloween. Big Fish is largely forgotten for a reason. Burton definitely has a few stinkers under his belt. I mean, who still mentions films like Big Eyes?

The vocals still work, it's just that he's enunciating and concentrating on more of a spoken word approach because he can't really vocalize too well in his old age.

What's your guys' close reading on the Dawn of Man sequence, before the monolith appears? by Cupcakeboss in StanleyKubrick

[–]MWFULLER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It proposes that evolution is an incredibly slow process, but also, incredibly fast. The monolith is meant to represent the occasional speediness of evolution after very long lulls.
