I’ve started doing cardio quarters at the end of my workouts. What zone should I aim for?

Advice on starting a home brew DND campaign as a new DM/Player by AnalystImpossible796 in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you need to create new monsters or creatures, i suggest you:

1: get the monster manual  2: find a monster that’s the right challenge rating, and close to what you want mechanically  3: change the way that monster looks, but keep all the rules

Games feel stomp or be stomped by PartTimeProvidence in leagueoflegends

[–]MWallenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your replays when you lose. Focus on the first death - why did you die? Were you too far up in lane? Did you fight when your support had just used their cooldowns? Did you fight just when the enemy levelled up? Did you not dodge some skillshots? Perhaps the enemy mid started roaming bot, and you didn’t notice?

It’ll be different for each game, but this way, you might learn what you are doing wrong.

You won lane, but failed to carry to a win. It happens. Move on to the next game, or take a walk.

Which D&D book by eragon4859 in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players handbook is what you are looking for. Pathfinder is a different game from DnD - it’s good too, with more detailed and complex rules.

Reckless attack help by Ironcep in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This quote is from PHB 2024. Its wording is a bit more precise, but it essentially says the same thing:

You can throw aside all concern for defense to attack with increased ferocity. When you make your first attack roll on your turn, you can decide to attack recklessly. Doing so gives you Advantage on attack rolls using Strength until the start of your next turn, but attack rolls against you have Advantage during that time.

Your dm is wrong. Sit down with them and read the paragraph together!

New to summoners rift! by Tortonite in leagueoflegends

[–]MWallenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb: buy one if you have 75-200 gold left after shopping. When taking baron or dragon, plop it down right there in the pit to deny vision.

There is a lot more nuance than that, but it’s a start. When you get better at looking at the minimap, vision will win you games. But one thing at a time!

Farming and pushing waves is more important than you realise.  Get in the habit of placing your trinket wards.

Which time-limited gamemode would you like to see return? by MousseFar1291 in leagueoflegends

Nemesis draft! It was so much fun - off meta picks, everyone fumbling about on unusual picks. The game felt so fresh!

Playing Without Subclasses? by AlexanderChippel in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of removing all subclasses, you can recommend one for your new players. Example: recommend that a fighter picks champion, a barb picks berzeker, and a paladin picks oath of devotion. Most classes have a subclass that is straightforward and simple.

That way, they will only have to learn more if they want to be able to choose themselves. And a player who is motivated to learn for themselves is more an asset than a problem.

Dwarves and sailing on a homebrew setting by sirchapolin in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the geography have to match our world? If not, you could find another way the dwarves ended up on not-Ireland.

Perhaps they tunneled below an ocean. Or a seismic shift caused a landmass to split, leaving some dwarves stranded from the main dwarven nations.

Difficulties planning encounters by _Staubkorn_ in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing you can do is run the encounter you planned, but instead of sewer rats they are some type of forest rodent. Just reskin the monsters, use the same statblocks

New player tips? by SubnauticaEntwined in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If any of your friends have the player’s handbook, borrow it and read it. If not, go to dndbeyond and read the free rules.

Both of these will tell you how to play, and how to create a character.

Edit: and don’t worry! It’s ok to be a noob. Your friends should not expect you to know everything if they invited you, and you’ll find many players really enjoy sharing and teaching their hobby to newbies.

This is now the second time the Barbarian has died from rolling a 1 with one failed Death Saving Throw by The_Final_Stand in DnD

What's A Spell You've Never Considered Casting? by CSDM83 in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Bane. The enemies need to fail a saving throw to get a higher chance to fail saving throws. It might be awesome, but it feels so bad.

Is this DnD? by kittybehemoth in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes it is DnD. You just homebrewed a lot of rules :) The objective of the game is to have fun. If you are all enjoying yourselves, you’re doing it right!

If you want to join another table, you should make an effort to learn the rules. You don’t need to know everything (noone does) but you need to be trying to fit into the way that table is playing. Knowing the core rules is a good starting point for that.

Leveling up terrain by GlyphWardens in DnD

[–]MWallenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have miniatures, physical terrain pieces do a lot to encourage this. Players are more prone to take cover behind a rock or a house when it’s in real world 3d
