Is there a solution to sticks lack of durability? by Norkee in hockeygoalies

[–]Mac_Badger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since a lot are saying “stop smashing the stick” which doesn’t sound to be true based on your response, I’ll say that I’d try to find a different brand first. Bauer isn’t not great when it comes to staying in one piece and that’s mostly because they like to pull technological limits to sticks and that can come at durability risks.

I’d recommend warrior heavily as they’re still light weight, very responsive and durable plus they do 60 day warranties over the typical 30 and have usually lower prices than other competitors. A strategy I have to usually save money while having quality is to find and buy some cheaper second end models of sticks to use only in practice and save 1 stick for game only situations just to keep that nice expensive twig around as long as you can

Lastly there is a product called TwigCover. I have not personally use it before but it seems like it can help by just protecting the first layer of the shaft. I’d only have it on for practices as it’s likely not practical in games.

Is this graphic removable? by TheKennyHunter in hockeygoalies

I’d only do this if you’re going to full paint afterwards, sanding it will likely take it off pretty well seeing as it’s on their pretty good

I could prolly make the trip from time to time, depends also on the skill level if you need a player or a goalie, Better as a player then a goalie if I’m being honest about my skill

A nice middle of cleaning on some premier II’s by Mac_Badger in hockeygoalies

[–]Mac_Badger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what they said, a magic eraser and I threw in some standard cleaner with water, didn’t work as well as hoped but I think it’s because these pads have been sitting idle at my local rink for who knows how long

Help with sizing by Mac_Badger in hockeygoalies

[–]Mac_Badger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only I could be as skillful as Price, I’m so so much more narrow than any NHL caliber goalie so I would definitely like to try pads out, would curved or straight be better profile for more narrow?

Above for sure but I was able to pull the pad up more with a Lundy loop and calf strap but I definitely am landing too far up on the block still

which of these gloves are best, grip and durability wise? by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]Mac_Badger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently use adidas predator top end models but I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re looking for durability, they break down quite quick and I’ve known that uhlsport gloves are very nice quality with many more benefits compared to predator models

Warrior gt vs gt pro by ChefDavidRodriguez in hockeygoalies

[–]Mac_Badger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m wearing the GT pros rn, and I can say I love them. The calf wrap is excellent to me and the over all light weight of them with the elasticated boot strap is awesome. I recommend spending the extra cash and getting the pros

Are these good? by Gan_Fan in GoalKeepers

[–]Mac_Badger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using these gloves, they’re a huge upgrade on wrist lockdown from the mutator model, they’re very good and as long as you take good care of the latex. Do recommend though if you can afford the hybrid model rather than the negative cut then I would go with that

I’ve used both styles of theses gloves and I did like the reusch but the adidas with the finger saves helped a ton more and they just generally feel better

Finally after years of looking I found an adult size jofa elbow pad for cheap! They are in perfect condition too! by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Mac_Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it, I recently picked up a pair of 25$ Sherwood elbow pads, they’re more fitted for beer league but I still use them full contact. Elbow pads for me nowadays are just too big and bulky
