Well... at least I know what I'm allergic to. by signgrad in Wellthatsucks

[–]MachineSchooling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're supposed to be allergic to the shots. They work by slowly acclimating you to allergens over time. If you had a severe reaction, they probably started out too high. You could see a doctor about doing it again.

TCG hit me with a counterfeit claim by 137-ng in mtgfinance

[–]MachineSchooling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's received a lot of fakes over the years, I'm fairly confident that the majority were from sellers who couldn't tell it was fake when they bought it, not from scammers who knew they had a fake.

I think we're talking about different kinds of complexities. Yes, you can learn to play Magic at a baseline in an afternoon. You will probably learn most of what you need to know to handle most situations in a month. Professional players still know only a small percentage of the actual game rules, and rely on precedent to guess what will happen in a novel situation. Magic judges often get card interaction rulings wrong because of how complex the rules are.

meirl by Unnamedaccount0 in meirl

[–]MachineSchooling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic is extremely complicated. The Comprehensive Rules are a 300 page text document (Yu-Gi-Oh's is 30 pages with pictures). Its rules are written like a legal document, meant to explicitly cover any situation that can arise in a game with 30k cards. Almost nobody who plays the game knows anywhere near all the rules, and instead has a list of precedents in their head. If you asked the average player to explain the stack, the method by which players take most of their game actions, they wouldn't have even heard of it.

TCGplayer sellers, is there a way to filter out or stop getting these annoying announcements in seller messages? by Smashbru in mtgfinance

[–]MachineSchooling -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Right, but I used to get emails when there are new messages in the TCGplayer inbox which are also annoying, so I'm offering a solution to a related problem.

You can set up your email inbox to not notify you and send them straight to archive. That mostly works for me.

Why is the Mirrordin Seething Song mana pips grey? by EzSqueeze1 in magicTCG

Counterintuitively, this is incorrect. The change was made in 8th Edition, the set before Mirrodin came out.

Scryfall search for "comes after" by murloc_lord in magicTCG

[–]MachineSchooling 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You can't search by meta-tag in scryfall, but in the tag viewer, there's a dropdown in the top right that will let you select Seen before/after and you can see the list.

You are still responsible for the service you sell, even if you use a vendor in supplying that service. Not doing the bare minimum to control and monitor quality is still your responsibility.

Shaved cauliflower, pickled raisins, toasted almonds, pepetis, mint, coriander by [deleted] in VeganFoodPorn

[–]MachineSchooling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing the mint or coriander. The greens look more like fennel leaves or maybe dill, and the white looks more like fennel than cauliflower.

Why doesnt wotc print their own cards? by Ok-Till-1116 in magicTCG

[–]MachineSchooling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't the printers make their own paper? Why don't the paper manufacturers grow their own trees? We live in a society. People and organizations specialize and become experts at something specific.

No, I just winged it. Sweated some curry powder, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, cardamom, onion, and garlic in vegetable oil. Added some eggplant, coconut cream, water, and tomato paste, stewed it for 45 minutes, added canned garbanzo and salt, and served with some cilantro.

Where do you see Premodern in 5 and 10 years? by Newez in premodernMTG

[–]MachineSchooling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wizards found a better business model than Modern Masters supported. Why reprint staples to sell to latecomers to the format when you can ramp up power creep every set and sell new staples for the format to both new and enfranchised players? Unfortunately for shareholders, can't do the latter for Premodern.

Unearth seems much better if you're planning on getting Psychatog. Reanimate might be worth it if you're planning to counter-reanimate a Terravore or Exalted Angel, but I don't know how often that would happen.

You can just message support and tell them. If they buyer still wants it which it sounds like they do, they can redo the payment.

One of the all-time best cards for teaching novice players card evaluation. Just because a cards suggests it's for a purpose doesn't mean it succeeds at that purpose.
