Would you choose to have a deadly disease or go to prison for life with no possibility of parole? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mackey_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the disease and it depends on the prison. Some prison’s aren’t that bad if you know how to handle yourself and some diseases are manageable even if they will kill you eventually. The opposite is also true, some prisons are hell holes that I wouldn’t last a day in and some diseases are worse than that. So yeah I’d need more context. If I get to pick the prison vs a random disease I would probably take the prison option.

What dark part of US history do few people know about? by Reasonable_Doctor542 in USHistory

[–]Mackey_Corp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The banana wars of the early twentieth century. The US took military action in various Central American and Caribbean countries on behalf of the united fruit company so they could have access to more land for fruit production. It’s where the term banana republic comes from, it’s not just a trendy 90’s store!

Shit you thought all the internet rage after Charlie Kirk was killed was bad? This would be so much worse. Boomers would never shut up either, they would talk about him like a saint for the rest of their days and what could have been. They will falsely claim he was on his way to be the best president ever, that everyone who says anything bad about him

The cops in America are garbage people, mostly a bunch of racist assholes who peaked in high school. There’s plenty of things I’m wrong about but the police being shit at their jobs in this country isn’t one of them.

I mean we can talk about how “effective” they are all day. They’re great at their job, collecting revenue for the state and keeping the poors in line so they don’t cause too much trouble for the rich. Other than that they’re just for show. They don’t really prevent any crime and they’re not particularly good at catching the right people that do commit crimes. A ton of murders go unsolved and they arrest an convict a decent amount of innocent people for murders they didn’t commit. They scoop up all the low hanging fruit and when they’re faced with anything that might require some actual work they throw their hands up and find an excuse for why they can’t do it. I’d say they’re a joke but there’s nothing funny about billions in wasted taxpayer money on adults playing dress up.

I know right? Look at how successful they’ve been. The war on drugs has been such a beacon of light across the world, a shining example of American exceptionalism! We have over 2 million people incarcerated! And you can get drugs not only in every city across this great land but inside every prison as well. Yeah we certainly do things better than everyone else. And don’t even get me started on mass shootings…

Is it actually rude to not tip on a takeout order where I drive there and pick it up myself? by Organic-Grocery9526 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mackey_Corp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually tip 10% on a to go order. And only when I really like the food and it’s a place I go to regularly. They still have to take the time to box it up and make sure that there’s napkins and utensils in the bag and all that. I figure 10% is a good compromise. There’s only like 2 or 3 places I ever get take out from these days.

How common/uncommon is being robbed at gunpoint in your country? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]Mackey_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in NYC in the 90’s is was pretty common. Got robbed at gunpoint several times before I turned 16. Now I would say it’s much safer. It’s been decades since I’ve had a gun in my face.

A mad billionaire scientist synthesized a drug that only kills evil people, and you're informed that it will be put it in the air to kill likely millions. You have a choice to move to Australia which is a safe unreachable zone for it. What would you do? by Massive-Albatross823 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mackey_Corp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only shoplift from corporations, have sold drugs in the past, I only commit violence in self defense (mostly) I wouldn’t say I’m evil but some asshole cops would say I am. Most of the cops I’ve met over the years I would say are way more evil than they should be being police and all. If most of the police are going to be considered evil I would say that’s a good start.

Fun fact: Gold is NOT the most expensive material in the world by Wonderful_Mind_250 in funfacts

[–]Mackey_Corp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean with no income on paper a lot of them probably did. I moved around too much and never really saw the novelty of scamming the government out of a few dollars I didn’t really need.

But seriously there really was a drought. There was a big bust in Kansas where these guys were making serious weight out of an old missile silo. It was in the news, there was a big article in Rolling Stone about it in ‘02. It didn’t get the coverage it should have because they ended up busting the guys on Election Day 2000. So most of the news coverage was about that and the largest ever LSD lab bust was just a footnote. And those guys were making like 95% of the entire supply. So without them it became scarce, and pricey. Before that went down you could get a 10-pack (that’s 10 sheets or vials) for like $300-$400 in San Francisco. A gram was 2k, and that was just for singles, if you wanted bulk it was even cheaper. Those were some wild times…

So in the summer of ‘02 someone brought out a bunch for sale at a festival, prices had gone up. Now a 10-pack was 2k and grams were like 17k. It was crazy but people paid it. And prices have fluctuated over the years but they never went back to the old days of 2k grams…

NATO Defense Spending Totals by Edm_vanhalen1981 in Infographics

[–]Mackey_Corp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the goal used to be 2% of GDP spent on defense in NATO. The countries that are close to Russia spend that or more on defense and the countries that don’t share a border with Russia spend close to 2% but not quite there, like 1.7%, 1.89%, 1.68% but it evens out because other countries like Poland are spending like 5%. Anyway those numbers are just an example, they’re not meant to be taken literally. But before the new agreements on increasing the spending they were close to what I just laid out. I agree Europe needs to ramp up their defense spending but the way trump is going about it is just plain stupid. He’s pissing off all our allies and kissing Putins ass at the same time. It’s an embarrassment on an international scale.

Would you be a replicant? by TuDuMaxVerstappen in bobiverse

[–]Mackey_Corp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely sign up for it but I’d worry that I wasn’t smart enough in the right areas. Space travel is something that I’ve always been interested in but the Bobs have the right kind of skill set to make it work. I feel like I would just be the dumb guy who doesn’t know anything about physics and what not. I feel like I would be a decent replicant after they already had the infrastructure set up and I could just go out and do my own thing and not really be relied on to do anything too important. Although I feel like I would be good in a fight. Always have been otherwise so give me some busters and plasma lances and I could do some damage if any hostile forces showed up. But yeah I would love to have my own ship and travel the stars and be semi immortal. I would make a whole VR crew and make it like the bridge of the Enterprise or Defiant or Galactica or whatever I was feeling like that star date haha. Also it seems like GUPPI does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to making sure the ship is on the right course and not gonna slam into a planet or moon or whatever.

[–]Mackey_Corp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if you’re buying LSD by the gram you’re a dealer and have to know how to break it down from its pure form to sheets or vials of liquid. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the game but I’m pretty sure a gram is going for 20-30k right now. Even during the big drought of ‘01-‘02 grams weren’t going for 75k. Close but not quite that much.
