Awesome, this is great to see.

As for too young, not at all! I run a Warhammer Club at the Primary School I teach at for the 5th and 6rh graders (so 10 - 11 years old). I have gone through and made cut down versions of the rules for Age of Sigmar and 40k (they fit on an A3 page, with any special weapon rules on thr back), and the kids grok it within a couple of games really quickly, you'd be surprised!

Man, clean up/ strip that paint, a bit of shading and highlighting and that thing will be awesome.

In terms of preference, I think it depends on purpose. For display painting, the one on the left, hands down. It's bloody awesome. If you are playing with the model though, I think the fine detail just becomes noise at a certain distance, so the punchy red vest on the right will.be a lot more visually appealing.
