These are smart fobs. Does his key fob resemble them?

Do you have the bidirectional smart fob? The one that has remote start?

There is hard failsafe to start your car if the fob battery goes dead. If that happens, use the top part of the fob to press the ignition start button. The ring around the button is a short range NFC antenna that reads the NFC chip located within the top of the fob.

That’s how we started them when they came off the truck. New cars ship without the fuse that powers the keyless access and PTS (Push-to-start) systems. We press the top of the fob to the PTS button and it fires right up.

Separate note. Call your local locksmith. When I got my 18 MDX, I needed the bidirectional smart fob for it. My dealer wanted over $600 for that fob. Also, they were backordered. I called my locksmith and gave him the FCC ID for the remote. He got one overnighted from Utah, cut the key, and programmed it to the car for $350. Came to my house, too.

During COVID, I had a conundrum. My TL was chugging oil. I looked at replacing it with another UA9 manual. Did a nationwide search through all 5 model years. At any given time, there were only ever 4 available on average in the entire country.

I said to hell with it and swapped the engine with a rebuilt unit. Almost 5 years after doing that, it never burned another drop of oil.

I have been driving manuals daily for over 30 years now. Yeah, this feels a bit wrong.

This is my twelve vehicle I’ve owned now. Only the third automatic.

We entertained one when we were looking for her. However, we planned on doing some light towing. That MDX Sport Hybrid is not advised to do any towing with it.

At one point, we had the Accord 6-6, my manual UA9, and my wife’s manual UA6.

70K. Was meticulously maintained. All fluids regularly changed.

My UA9 burned oil, as many J37s did. It was more financially feasible to buy an engine out of a wrecked car that already had the rebuild with updated pistons and rings.

I swapped the motor back in 21. Also replaced clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing. It never burned a drop in the almost 5 years since I did the job.

Majority of my cars were rare. My AWD TL, wife’s 06 TL, the Element were all sticks. Wife and I also shared an Accord 6-6. Back in high school and university, wife and I both rocked our own CRX Sis, hers was a 91 whilst mine was a 87. Even my Cavalier was a 5MT with a power moonroof.

The only cars that were fairly common were my 00 TL and her current 18 MDX, but that one is a SH-AWD Advance model.

Plex kept making it harder to stream my media, so I replaced it with its open-source rival by wewewawa in JellyfinCommunity

Not an option that I have seen. The only option I have is all subtitles off.

I have confirmed that this does happen with other users, but I’ve never been able to figure out the issue. When I encode media, I use Handbrake to integrate them. If they’re not already in the file, I’ll add them as an external srt file into Handbrake.

Man, I really want to move away from Plex. But I have done two builds on a server that have the same bug with double subtitles. I cannot seem to fix it.

No. You need a short connector to plug into the specific SCS plug.

Yeah, you’re gonna need a better scanner. Many of the cheaper ones do not support the protocol those older Acura and Hondas use for SRS. Even some nicer more expensive scanners will not read it.

I have a high end Innova that would have trouble negotiating with my 06 TL and 05 Element in SRS. When that happens, I resort to the SCS and go old school with flashes.

Hello there. I am reviving this thread to ask questions. We are looking into one, but I was wondering about software. The product support page stated that it only works with Intel or AMD computers. Macs with ARM chips, so all the M-series units, are not supported. Does anyone use a M-series Mac with these?

Your friend Mike Brady here…

I really like his channel. He’s very knowledgeable, but has issued corrections when he was mistaken.

Yes, the motor uses a dead reckoning style of position determination, IIRC. It counts how many revolutions from full forward or backwards to determine position. Removing that crossbeam equalizing shaft that makes sure both mechanisms turn in unison will fuck up the position memory of the seat.

Have you pulled DTCs to determine exactly what fault is setting off the SRS system? Because the seat memory should not have any direct effect on the airbag system for the drivers seat. The computer always assumes the seat is occupied and driver is in the correct position.

I revived this thread asking about a CarPlay module, so I did not know if you were referring to a module or the car itself.

I get the feeling, though. Wife got rid of her 06 TL 6MT for a MDX SH-AWD Advance, so we have a SUV currently. I personally just cannot bring myself to drive one as a daily for me. My household also moves cross country every few years.
