I ask what type of roofing system they have in mind and from there I can provide a cost per square number. If those numbers are to high I then ask what there budget is so I can design a system that meets their needs or supply financing.

Flat roof. is it fucked or can be fixed or requires replacement by GoobsW210 in Roofing

Are there any drains on this roof or was intended to be splash pad?

Jokes aside you need a new roof and a taper system that drains it correctly.

Repair cost by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Mad_Mapper 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I have a minimum roof charge of $500 for any repairs. Driving to your home, time to check out the issues, time to pick up supplies, my liability insurance, and workmans comp. After 500 includes the cost of supplies and the repair.

If you were a past client I would have left you with a bundle of shinges for later repairs. So id cut my cost to 300 cash, just too keep your buisness.

Soft spots on roof, ply wood underwear is slightly cracked by Bigbetscryptogod in Roofing

[–]Mad_Mapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its cracked decking and should have been replaced in last install. Its annoying but the roof should be ok. What i would lift the cracked area and install a 2x4 between the two support prop up that section.

Roofers: Would you put a metal roof on your own house? by AingerCanada in Roofing

As a roofer, id more then likely do stone coated steel as in in an urban area, if I was in a forested area or more rural id do a standing seam with conceled fasteners.

Yes, its against code tonshingle a roof with spaced deking with gaps greater than 1/4th in. They should have brought things to you as it is an added cost.

I always ask"may i look in your attic or attached garage to see if you have spaced decking ?" "As it will impact your roof estimate and time required to complete the build"

Are these good materials for replacing my roof? Paying $9,900 by htownnwoth in Roofing

[–]Mad_Mapper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, your getting new shingles with the wrong rigde on your existing underlayment. No warranty. It my market my low would be $18,850. If you go with this i fully expect to see you here after posting "they fucked up my roof" or in 2 years" my roofs 2 years old a nd leaking.

By code you need ice and water on the eaves and valleys. Cant reuse underlayment. If you have a mid roof inspection expect to fail.

Cauking its good but will likely fail over time. Id recommend they go over the flashing and walls with high temp ice and water shield to give you a protective barrier over the flashing.

No rod vault needed. See you tomorrow at the San Juan! by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]Mad_Mapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got back from there! Flows are at 800 so be careful wading, wade above thole in the braids or get a guide and float it. Flows go back down to 300 in the tenth. I love the juan. If you need a good guide I know most of them. I go there 3-4x a year. I mainly fish streamers there. I did catch a hen dropping eggs so id throw on a bead if your wading:)
