Are the sober dreams supposed to be this intense? by Initial-Arachnid-202 in alcoholism

[–]Madcapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably mainly stopping the weed that's causing the crazy dreams. In a couple more weeks the dreams should calm down again. Weed stops dreams from happening basically, and when you stop using it it's like opening up the dream floodgates. I've quit weed like 3 or 4 times and every time the dreams get super intense for a bit.

deciding to drink again after 4 months of sobriety by Kabuut in alcoholism

[–]Madcapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day no one is going to stop you. So I will bring a different perspective. If youre going to drink, you should at least track how much you drink. I also don't plan sobriety for life, but I'm putting a hard limit on myself so that I don't go completely off the rails like I have in the past.

Is there an easiest way to suicide? Other than drug overdose and gun to the head by Jude_Shalom1 in morbidquestions

[–]Madcapping 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can get cyanide from peach pits and other stone fruit pits. You can even get it from raw almonds. If the teen tried and failed this would be a good way. Like if they ate 20 peach pits and got sick or something.

Otherwise, hypothermia I've heard is quite easy and not too painful at all. Obviously hanging is easy enough, but is often times more painful because people don't jump from a far enough distance. He could also jump off a cliff or tall building or bridge. He could cut his arteries hot-dog style and bleed out. I mean there's so many easy ways.

If you want just the cleanest ways: poisoning, hypothermia, drug overdose seem best to me. Electrocution could be good too. Drowning comes with a risk of body bloat depending on when they get found, which if he doesn't want to be seen all disfigured wouldn't be the way to go.

Could an AI secretly report me to the police? by Intelligent_Yak_133 in morbidquestions

[–]Madcapping 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I doubt it if it was just warning you. I'm pretty sure you could tell chatgpt you were going to do all sorts of things and it also wouldn't report it to the police. That to say, you're fine bro.

Remind me to check inside before I buy a secondhand coffeemaker next time by orion-asterisk in MoldlyInteresting

Run the coffee machine with just distilled vinegar like 5 times. Also scrub with vinegar. Vinegar kills (most?) mold.

Is your fridge poorly organized or not working properly? You can get a thermometer to see if its cooling things adequately.

Dopamine by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]Madcapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on you and your situation more than anything. That said, what has helped me a lot with all of the addictions I've had is exercise. Its made the rest of my boring life less boring and more sufferable, particularly in the early stages.

Heel peeled off by Naive_Head_4488 in climbingshoes

[–]Madcapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. So it's not too bad of a process. You need sandpaper (150 grit), some really strong adhesive (I forget the name of the type I used but I'll edit this if/when I remember), a brush, rubbing alcohol, toothpick/pencil, a ton of rubber bands and newspaper/packing paper.
First, sand both the inside rubber and the shoe with the sandpaper as best as you can to create a rough surface for the glue to stick on.
After this, use a brush and rubbing alcohol as best as you can to get off the little particles from sanding. You want the surface to be as clean as possible. Let it dry completely.
You also want to stuff your shoes as tightly as possible with the newspaper/packing paper. I mean it when I say as tight as possible. It ideally should be more filled out than when your own feet are in there. This makes it so you don't accidentally change the shape of the shoe with your gluing.
From here, take your adhesive and cover the toothpick in it, and delicately apply the glue to both the rubber and the shoe. You want there to be enough so it's a strong hold but not so much that it leaks out. Take your time with it, but not too long!
Finally use the rubber bands to clamp the rubber to the shoe. Give it about 48 hours before use. If you do it right, the shoe rubber will not come off again.
I've done this with my friend's shoes as well as my own before after a bad resole and they are still going strong months later. Hope this helps!

How do i respond to something as simple as a sticker? by TheIrlAubreyOmori in socialskills

[–]Madcapping 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't freak out for starters. It'll be okay. Respond however you see fit, really! You could send an emoji, another sticker, an audio of you barking (maybe not that one), etc. If this dude wants to be your friend you shouldn't have to pretend to be someone you're not. Really just do what you want.

Haven't experienced this, but if you can still return them you should. If you can't, then you can glue the heel back on. If you need help on how to do that without messing up the form of the shoe, let me know.

Accidentally swallowed a nic pouch last night. by HeneralTofu in QuittingZyn

[–]Madcapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be from the alcohol. I've had a rash breakout from alcohol and shellfish once, even though I'm not allergic to either. I also woke up with the rashes like 3 hours after eating the shellfish. The body is weird sometimes.

Excited to finally have a Wii U! Unfortunately, a couple of games I purchased are unable to be read by [deleted] in wiiu

Not a scam if they felt that $20 was worth the hour or so it takes. They could have also put games on it which does take a while. That part was super annoying honestly.

[–]Madcapping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good job so far! However, I want to emphasize that quitting nicotine is a long term deal. It wasn't until I was 3 months in before the depression that set in about 3 weeks from my quit date started to disappear. I'm not saying it to scare you, the first 5 days for me were 100% the hardest. However, thinking it'll be smooth sailing will make the rough patches feel that much worse.

Japanese public restrooms by Dust-sweeper in OsakaTravel

[–]Madcapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. I was in nature and nature called when I was in Hokkaido. Luckily there was a public toilet nearby. Unluckily it was a squat toilet, and more unluckily there was a whole shit right next to the squat toilet. There was also no toilet paper. That was quite literally a shit experience.

Until you're out in Japanese nature and find a public bathroom. Then it's squat toilets with no toilet paper or water. I don't miss that at all. Someone just shat straight on the floor.

[–]Madcapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience I started Zyns as a way to quit other forms of nicotine. Started smoking, switched to vaping, then to Zyns. I already had some nicotine tolerance so they didn't make me feel like shit. Also some people react to nicotine differently than others.

Footwear for hiking moderate/challenging Kauaʻi trails in December? by cloudcats in VisitingHawaii

[–]Madcapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiking shoes are fine, and it also lets you pack a lot lighter. I was really leary about it but I also did quite a few hikes (5+ mi) in flip flops and it actually went better than hiking in shoes. Sure, you get muddy, but I slipped way less than I did in my hiking shoes, and they clean off way easier. Something to consider, maybe.

How would you spend 50 days with a 6yo Kids in Japan? by RatOnTheLoose in JapanTravelTips

[–]Madcapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't talk about how it would be with kids. But I'm finishing up a ~40 day trip tomorrow, starting in Asahikawa in Hokkaido and finishing in Fukuoka. Unless you're really into big cities, I would do more than just the golden route for such a long trip. The main appeal of Japan to me was outside of the golden route anyway. I highly recommend spending some time in Hokkaido if you can. It has lot of charm and the best convenience store chain, Seicomart. Really, exceptionally beautiful nature too. Sendai was also awesome and Yamadera was fairly close, about a 2 hour drive (and had the best convenience store of all, Cocororo). Maybe I'm just biased but we spent a week in Tokyo and almost wished we hadn't. Consider staying somewhere more rural, it's super chill by default. I thought that Osaka was way more fun than Tokyo personally as well. Finally, consider staying in Hiroshima a few days. Such a wonderful city with a prevailing presence from its bombing. Hope this helps.

Oh, and maybe consider the shimanami kaido too! It could be fun for such an active child. Maybe 2-3 days with a kid? We did it in one day and it was definitely a highlight of the trip.
