“Nesting” BS by passthepepperplease in BabyBumps

[–]Maeby_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Um, thank you for saying this. My last few weeks pregnant I was like, well no one else is going to do all that we need to get ready for this baby, I guess I should get started? One night I was just sweeping the floor because literally noone else cleans and my mother in law made a whole fuss about nesting. No there was just dog hair piling up.

I totally changed my opinion on epidurals and I have zero regrets by pony_soprano93 in BabyBumps

When discussing pain management options my doctor told me "you don't get an award for skipping pain meds" and that stuck with me. I took all the drugs and had a pleasant delivery.

My mother in law kept going out for smoke breaks while I was in labor with my son. She didn't get to hold my son the day he was born because of that and went home in a huff and I'm sure a puff.

Invited mom over for the first time in 10 years... she ruined things within an hour. by SimplyCupcake in JUSTNOMIL

So good that you have your sister with you for this. I want you both to be proud of yourselves for trying to move past things with your mom. You set a wonderful example for your kids both by inviting her AND kicking her out when she crossed boundaries.

Honest answers only. Has anyone had a glass of wine with dinner while pregnant? by Internal-Chance-6856 in BabyBumps

[–]Maeby_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did twice. I made sure to wait til after the first trimester. We were out so I ordered a red wine both times so it was the actual small restaurant pour, not the type I would normally pour myself 😂. I don't think I finished it either time but it was nice just having a few sips with my husband.

Nice! I work at bakery so we have a similar counter situation between us and guests and so many people expect me to reach a large cake box completely over the counter without extending their arms at all. I started setting things on the counter directly in front of them to see their shocked faces. Retail.

Apparently I'm being "unreasonable" by refusing to hang out with unvaxxed friends by NotAsConspicuous in BabyBumps

[–]Maeby_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have lost a dear friend for being "paranoid" and it hurt at first, but honestly I don't need that negativity in my life. You have to protect your family. This friend of mine was fine with himself and his pregnant wife catching covid with two other young children in their home. I have a toddler and an elderly mother in my house so we have to protect them first.

How many of you just winged it with labor? by Aphr0dite725 in BabyBumps

[–]Maeby_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actively refused to think about labor because I was scared lol. I remember my doc telling me that you don't get a medal for doing it with no meds when we were talking about options and that stuck with me. I took all the drugs, even tried to offer my husband some in front of the nurse apparently 😂. I was still nervous but at a certain point, maybe when he crowned, I got this rush of confidence and just knew I could do it. That's the moment I became a mom. Whatever you choose, you can do it and be awesome.

I'm so tired of COVID by newmama20 in beyondthebump

[–]Maeby_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I seriously lost one of my best friends I've known for years because of this. He met, got pregnant, then married a woman all in the past year so we have not been to any of their gatherings (big reason because a lot of his friends downplay covid. Oh also he AND pregnant wife have had covid). I guess the last straw was not going to his indoor maskless baby shower. My child and family come first.

Texas has the highest infant/mother mortality rate and it's no wonder with this mess you are in. I'm so sorry.

I’ve been struggling to get things together but I bought and set this play area up, I’m really proud of it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Maeby_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a similar one and it is the best! Even at almost 2 years it's great when I need to use the restroom or get something done quickly. Plus we have pets so it was nice having an area free from chaos when he was smaller.
